Factory aux input?

I have an auxillary lead which I ran through to the little pot thing just infront of the rear cubby door, but I kept having problems with the leads becoming loose from eachother, therefore losing the ability to play music from my phone.

I know the aux input in the factory position is in this little piece of plastic under the radio, but where exactly is the hole? Is it in the circle on the right side? Or further over?

Just want to make sure I end up with a factory finish before drilling through OEM parts.

I like the look of that. Is there a part number for the cable and socket? In other words, what do I need to install this from scratch with DSP and Nav.

How is the sound quality?
 
No Probs Ben! It is really far to the right actually, no illusion. More dust than I thought :?

Gwtason - I'm not sure of the part number but it should be on the "real oem" site. The cable itself it a bit of a cheapo from a supermarket as I was impatient, I need to order a decent gold plated one. The sound quality is fine to be fair, I have no issues with it. It did take some fiddling with my spotify equaliser settings though.
 
It needs to be as that is the stronger point, otherwise it will sag.
 
Does every car have these Aux cables? ive recently fitted a connects two (I think thats what its called) and it doesnt paly very loud and seems to be background noise but i cant return back to the cd changer it skips every second this would be much easier if my car was to have this. :P
 
Mine is a retro fit, tou just need the correct cable to plug into the back of the cd player. You can get the genuine one from bmw or cheaper ones on ebay.

It doesn't produce much bass though, that's the only downside.
 
You need the connecter, which you can buy on ebay for 15 quid. Think it comes up if you search for 'bmw z4 aux'.
