Looking at Wondermikes 911 thread, It made me wonder who would keep buying the same car if the manufacturer would not change the style but only the technology. For example what Caterham do but for more practical sports cars like the Z4.

Would you keep buying the same look car when the new model is out but with more modern technology (engine, suspension etc.).

I can see that people obviously do with the likes of Morgans but would you do this with your Z4?

I spent over 25 years driving Mustangs from model year '79 through '89 (I sold my last driver in 2006 when I bought my Z4). Each of these cars looked essentially the same, but were vastly different in performance and technology. Although I had fun, looking back, I think it would have been more fun to mix it up a bit more. I bought the Z4 specifically because it was very unique car and very different from what I had owned in the past. I plan to continue in that theme and be a bit more diverse in my auto selections going forward.

As long as it had progressed enough I would. If they managed to fit the new m3s V8 into it for a new M then I def would!! :D

Well the new M V8 is smaller and lighter than the 3.2 straight six so i reckon it fits just fine.

Now would i buy the same car if it looked the same but was technically more advanced? Depends how much i like the car's styling and what else is out at the moment. So i guess my answer is a definite maybe. :D
