Facelifting the interior

I have a 2004 3.0 but would like to start changing some of the interior parts to the facelifted versions - I personally find the grey plastic looks a bit dated and prefer the black. In some of the photos of the post-facelift cars the aluminium trim looks a bit lighter, is this just the lighting or was there a lighter aluminium trim released with the facelift? The parts I am referring to are the metal trims that go across the dashboard and around the gearstick. I would prefer lighter metal to brighten up the car if possible as the brushed aluminium I currently have is quite dull.

This looks lighter to me but could be my imagination

I'm not joking here..

take some water, add some vinegar, rub down your allu with the mixture, then buff.

instant shine and a "shinier" "lighter" look.

you'd be surprised how much grime comes off with this approach, even if you think youve made it spotless with some autoglym products..

Is the trim actually Aluminium? To be honest the trim in mine looks like Silver painted plastic and doesnt have a brushed effect at all? Do the various models have a different trim inside?
Mine have some black marks that I thought were the paint having rubbed off but now I am not so sure? :?

I think there is a difference between pre and post alu interiors... The handles are certainly a different colour.

Also as a facelift you could get a sort of printed aluminium as an option... Which looks much lighter (although rare)

[vimeo]You could always re colour the platic parts with paint from 'Furniture Clinic'
I did part of mine that was black and painted in in Ivory with excellent results
You could also wrap the alumina bits in any colour or finish you want
Quite any east and cheap solution to do your self or get someone to do it for you

What's happening with my text? It's putting in words I'm not typing
Should have read Alluminium and Easy
No idea what [vimeo] means?

Wrap the trim all gloss black?

Not sure black would get the effect I'm after ;)

I'll definitely try this before spending any money on new parts, definitely a cheaper alternative if it works!

I'm almost certain that mine is metal - it definitely gets very cold on colder days and feels like metal and has a very obvious brushed metal look so perhaps you have a different trim package to me.

Do you have any photos of this? How did you handle the buttons etc?
