Hi All

Im new to the forum, Im just looking to change my wifes MB SLK for a Z4.

The current marketing campaign is VERY aggresive with the astounding deals to be had this month, just wondering if this is the lead up to any kind of facelift ?

Anyone have any thoughts on this or better still firm knowledge ? I dont think it will stop me ordering but just interested.

Thanks in advance

MS

As it was only about september last year that the new engines were released, I wouldn't expect a facelift this soon. That would have been the ideal time to do it if there were going to do. If anything it would only be a mild tweek but can't see that this year. However, what do I know. I have been wrong before.

Seen merc offering the slk for 369 today when I was in at BMW , dunno what deposits etc, remember the offers fr z4 expire end of month

SLK is being offered at £319 over 36 with £4995 deposit for an AMG sport with metallic paint on the main MB web site.

I'm convinced the Z4 will see a mid-life facelift pretty soon. It's coming up for 3 years old and the 20i and 28i models are referred to as 2011 on the website.

The 28i in the US website is considered a 2012.

Also, which SLK are you guys talking about? I just recently visited the Benz US website and they already have the SLK250 and SLK55 in there, it was just the SLK350 when I check a month or so ago.

I was at Geneva Motorshow and I asked a development guy, and the usual 3 questions...

M Sport......No

Revised Model this year.....No

Oil Burner.......No

Predictable.....but is it true or not? You never know

I have not seen spy shots or heard any credible rumors of a LCI (BMW speak for facelift) coming anytime soon.

The mid-year changes just happened. They only change to the Z4 is an improved roof mechanism.

BMW may decide not to do a major LCI. The car looks good like it is and there aren't that many on the road.

Be sure to read the hill start assist thread, if that feature is of any importance to you.

Didn't the 2.0 e85 replace the 2.2 in the final year that the prefaclift was around... Along with introducing the clear lights?

judging by that i would give it a year before a revision is out.

Maybe with the same diesel that in the new m line up cars... Such asthe m550d.

BMW would be stupid offering these deals only to be stuck with thousands of them in 3 years when a new face and new deal arrives

Thanks for the replies everyone ......

Interesting point ..... having looked at the current specs online (the general info rather than through the configurator) the listing for the 20i has (2011) after the title ..... from experince this would normally indicate they are still selling (and building) the 2011 model year and that the spec may change in some way soon, however small there may well be a change which could explain the very generous discounts.

Picking up on the SLK comments ...... we have looked at the new SLK and whilst my wife liked the look (I dont) it just doesnt have the comfort ... even with the best seats its still not a patch on the Z4 (IMHO of course) ..... and thats before taking into account driving experience.

Cheers

I have to say the SLK looks ugly fom the rear....I like the front end, but I just not think there is a better looking new sports car out there for £35K ish

Even the RCZ looks better than the TT now......

Those two models were new for 2011. The sDrive20i replaced the sDrive23i.

From what I've read, they factory was supposed to changeover to 2012 models starting with iso week 10. (5 March)

The only announced change to the e89 is that you can raise or lower the top at speeds up to 25 mph.

The huge discounts are just marketing, as they apply to the new 1 series as well, and several other models.

Really??? There is the 4.9% APR but We couldn't do much better than £1000 deposit contribution on a 116i 5-door.

Payments were about the same as the Z4, but the F20 1 Series is a much less expensive car.

BMW always has some sort of offer on something. The F20 had a better offer at the end of 2011. We were close to buying one at the end of December. Debbie wasn't well enough. By the time she was, it was January and the F20 offer went from 3.9 to 4.9. -- At the same time the Z4 offer appeared.

I expect the Z4 to still have an offer in Q2 2012, but with a smaller dealer deposit contribution, a higher APR or both. The 1 series coupe and convertible have build-out 'Editions' starting April. I'm guessing a 118d Exclusive Edition will have the 2nd quarter's most attractive offer but that is just a wild guess.

Ok, so Mercedes are doing some pretty good offers on the SLK as well just now, but I'm still pretty cagey about these deals on the Z4 at the moment.

I was speaking to my dealership manager on the Friday. He was lending me a 1 series coupe for the weekend. Lovely car! Anyways, he said that BMW had told them that the Z4 offer was extremely popular to the extent that the demand was outstripping the supply that they were use to. I think the offer has been outstanding. Going to admit, I have loved the one series coupe!

I wonder how much profit there is with such a large discount and 4.9%APR. BMW may breath a sigh of relief when the offer ends.

I'm a big fan of the 1er coupe too. If there had been an £8000 offer on a 120i convertible, I'd have taken it in a heartbeat.

The only thing about the amazing deals is what will the effect be on residuals? I don't think you'll see any discount at all on the 2012 Boxster for example, and if you're buying the car outright I know which one is going to depreciate much slower and it ain't the Zed!

If the car is worth less than residual at the end of the contract, I'm happy to let BMW take the loss. One of the advantages of PCP.
