Facelift Xenon headlights. Complete factory fit set.

Hey guys, unfortunately circumstances have changed slightly and I'm no longer fitting xenon lights to my coupe. I really need a set of winter tyres, work require me in 100% of the time come the snowy months - and they're flipping expensive

I've prepared an ebay advert but I thought I'd put them on here first. So forgive the copy and paste :P

Price: £600 + p&p. I can sort a courier for around £10-15 I reckon. Collection is also welcome.

Hello,

For sale I have a pretty much complete kit for factory fitting xenon headlights to a z4.

The headlights are for facelift z4's (2006 onwards). I'm unaware if they'll fit the earlier model's, possibly worth asking/searching on http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/

Included:
2 x Xenon headlights
2 x Ballasts
2 x Igniters
2 x Xenon Bulbs
2 x Full beam bulbs
2 x Indicator bulbs
2 x level sensors
2 x level sensor plugs
The associated brackets and nuts/bolts for attaching to the suspension.
50m 11A (you wont need this much) of coloured wire ready for installing (5m light green. 5m orange. 5m grey. 7m green. 7m white. 7m purple. 8m black. 6m blue).

If you're lucky you may well already have the loom in place. In which case you've got some free wire and plugs :) You can check by looking in the O/S (driver side UK) front and rear arch for the plugs:

I dread to think what the cost from BMW would be for this lot (£1500+ easily)

Obviously if this is going to be a job yourself you're going to need some electrical competency. Though I'm almost certain any reputable auto electrician could complete this no problem.

One of the headlights is in perfect condition with all brackets in tact, but I've done repairs on the 2nd headlight brackets (as pictured), I've used a combination of metal brackets, fibre glass and self tappers for repairs (this is likely to be much stronger than the original!). One bracket remains broken because it's a fairly awkward shape to replicate but with 3/4 bracket OK it's not going to move anywhere.

Also please be aware your cars LCM (light control module) will need to be programmed for xenon headlights. I had a quote of £35 from BMW or my local specialist offered to do it for free!

The pdf (ready for printing) for fitting can be downloaded from here: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/images/6186EN.pdf

Reason for sale is money's a little tight at Christmas time and I really need a set of winter tyres, I'm 100% required to get in to work during the snowing months, a lovely 20 mile journey :(

Come the 1st of Jan 2012 I believe the new MOT standards will come in to effect and xenon's fitted without washers, level sensors etc. will become a fail.

Thanks for looking

Hi, could you or someone else confirm that these lights will work in a 2005 pre-facelift roadster that already has xenon headlights from factory?

Afaik You will need to get it recoded to get a post facelift xenons working in a prefacelift.

Thanks for the response. My bro works for a BMW indy so I presume this isn't a massive problem?

Cheers

I'll take them for £550 if you include postage and I can drop the cash into your account as soon as possible?

I really can't stretch any further at the moment.

I hope this is acceptable?

Eh I thought your car was a 3.0 xenons as standard

If you mean me then I have a 2.5i with xenons as standard but these are required due to serious issues with damp ingress and the fact that I'm selling mine ASAP but want it in tip top condition in order to do so.

Sorry I meant RichIbizaSport,

Ah sorry I didn't realise you were talking to me!

3.0Si - unfortunately without xenons - bummer!

It's a hard choice - crash because I can't see anything when a car comes toward me or crash because I have summer tyres on :P

You're going to have to crash due to reduced vision as I've bank transferred the money to you and I'm excited to receive them :P

Also, any bits I don't use (as I already have xenons) I have said I'll send them back to you, which I will regardless of how much you insist I don't

I'm planning, once I have these in and working, to take my original headlights apart, give them a thorough clean inside and out and have them put back together professionally (including inserting some angel eyes for added desirability) so when this is done you can have first refusal on them.

Cheers
Alex

I'd just like to add that Rich is a top bloke and a fantastic person to do a deal with.

The money was still warm having left my account and the box had arrived, well packaged, and as promised. Just cutting into it now and my bro (who works for a BMW specialist) has a spare hour tomorrow to fit, otherwise they wouldn't have been sorted this side of Christmas.

Can't argue with the price he let them go for and he's dug me out of a hole, working headlights are definitely needed as it's dark when I leave for work and dark when I get back!

In due course, I'll be sorting out my current headlights, converting them to angel eyes and Rich has first refusal (if he wants smoked xenon angel eyes that is) at a price that hopefully means he can have his winter tyres and his xenons.

 Cheers pal.

(I do have to question the "entrance at rear, use telecom" instructions on the delivery note though. I live in a 6 bed detached with a rather large entrance at the front of the house and no telecom in sight  - I think they confused return to sender details with mine perhaps!?)
