Nope. (assuming by "facelift" you don't mean the E89!)

No, but make sure you disconnect the battery first to avoid error messages coming up. Only thing I had to do was reset the windows - just a case of holding down the window button for 10 seconds.

Isnt it a faff with the wiring on the facelifts?

A little bit faffy, but only took about 45 minutes, plus 15 minutes to cut out the cowling with a broad-blade hacksaw for a neat finish.
