facelift bumper costs

I know quite a few of you guys (and girls) have fitted the facelift front bumper (none-M) onto older zeds. My question is.. after the purchase of a bare bumper, off ebay etc, apart from paintwork, what do I need to purchase (grills foglights etc) and what do you reckon it's going to cost. Are there any complications or is it a fairly straightforward fit.

For a facelift I reckon you will need -

The bumper - £50 to £100 for one that needs attention ?
Lower grill - don't come up often, but I snagged on for £40
Side clips - worth replacing even if not broken, the facelift ones are more durable - £50 from the stealer
Arch liner push rivets - 10 for about £3 from the stealer
Fog lights - don't come up often, think they are ££££ from the stealer
You may need side reflectors - does the pre-facelift have these ? I got some off eBay for £15

Oh, and on the bumper - headlight washers or not ? If yes, you need the covers but should have them, if not then you need a bumper without holes, or the covers glued in place.

I don't know if you would need a new undertray or corner 'air ducts' - guessing the pre and post facelift are the same. If you did need a new undertray plus a single air duct, they cost me about £120 all together from the stealer.

For the ///M bumper you definitely need a new undertray as the facelift is too short, and you need the two side air ducts. The bumpers are also way more expensive - IIRC I have seen them from £250 second hand, up to £600 for a brand new one. On the plus side, no need for fog lights :D

I am sure someone will tell me if I got any of that wrong... However one way of checking bits and part numbers is to go to http://www.realoem.com and choose the model / year you want - lots of exploded parts diagrams for the whole car.

I've just done this with the M bumper. I bought from Lincoln Sopers so get discount. The bumper was £433, the centre grille and 2 washer caps come to about £70. I still need the scoops and scoop brackets and the front underneath cover.

Thankyou Bing
Just saw the pics of GJC72's sterling grey car when he changed the bumper and I was sorely tempted. There's a decent facelift bumper on eBay at the mo. I'll take a look at that link you posted. Thank you very much!

Sorry late to this thread but just thought it would be useful for those planning a facelift front bumper project to list the additional parts required. I sourced the parts from Sopers of Lincoln and the prices are from September 2012 and included the Forum discount.

So in addition to the bumper cover you will need.

Lower Grill - Part Number 51.11.7.158.831 - £65.61
Fog Lamps - Part Numbers 63.17.7.162.739 & 63.17.7.162.740 - £71.20 each
Head Washer Covers (if required) - Part Numbers 51.11.7.078.261 & 51.11.7.078.262 - £13.01 each
Side Marker/Reflectors - Part Numbers 63.14.7.162.737 & 63.14.7.162.738 - £9.12 each
Nut x 4 - Part Number 07.12.9.904.150 - £0.84 each
Screw x 4 - Part Number 07.14.7.137.416 - £1.19 each
Nut x 4 Part Number 51.41.8.176.418 - £0.77 each

Pretty sure i have listed everything. Hope it helps :)

I'll add the above part numbers to the part number list for future reference.

That is a great list - nice job

Didn't realise the fogs are so 'cheap'... Got me thinking I may want the improved ones as mine are getting in a right state...

forgot to ask.....do the pre-facelift kidney grills fit the facelift bumper?

Way late answer to this, but yes they do.

Noooooooo!

I fail to understand why anyone would want to fit a so-called "facelift" bumper, which removes all the purity of the original design! They are ugly, ugly, ugly. The M version even more so, it was a simple change for changes sake, IMHO, you wouldn't want one on your E-type, would you?

Seriously, go stand in front of the car, take a long hard look at how the design lines flow, before you decide to go "boy racer" as my girlfriend put it, a couple of years back, when I contemplated the same. She was right! Glad I didn't go ahead now, the pre-facelift is the most aesthetically beautiful.

This happens with so many designs, even with "new" car models being uglier than outgoing versions, think Honda Prelude, Ford Focus, Clio, aso.

:D Just provoking a bit more discussion before he spends his money! Anyone agree, or do I stand alone here?

Hmmmmm....

Think I know which one I prefer :)

I think your girlfriend is right about something like this:

But the op is just talking about a different OEM bumper. I don't think a change of bumper to a different OEM one is boy racery, just an upgrade or change of look.

Wow thank you gjc72  for the comprehensive parts list. It really does mean I need to buy an 'all inclusive' used bumper rather than just the skin. I just think the facelift looks a bit fresher...to go with the facelift clear indicators. I understand what you mean about the E-Type..boy was the later V12 ugly in comparison with the Series 1. Some facelifts work and unfortunately some just don't.
Thanks also Bing for the kidney grill info
