Facelift 2.5i to si conversion

Hi everyone,

I tried to search but I couldn’t find any recent information on this.

Has anyone here successfully installed a three stage intake manifold and been able to tune the ecu on either the 2.5i or 3.0i to create a si conversion?

I have the 2.5 and was wondering how feasible this is in the UK. Lots of people seem to have had luck on the other forum but not sure if that is USA specific.

Well, I'm no expert, but I thought they were different engines entirely?

They are if the 2.5 is pre facelift, post fl they used the n52 in a lower state of tune

Yup, cheers Rob, I was having a blonde moment! Far too early

he's asking about the facelift 2.5i( the 177bhp model) though isnt he which does have a modded n52 engine? It has been discussed on the forum in the past but I think the general consensus was it wouldn't be as easy as it would seem.. i. e change of manifold and mapping.. who knows though?

Yes, Rob pointed out I was being a bit dim on that. N52 it is.

I looked into it a while ago, and I think the OP is correct - a different manifold and map is the only difference between the facelift 2.5i and 2.5si. However, I came to the conclusion that (for me anyway), it was too much faff and if I really wanted to pursue it a whole new (reconditioned etc) engine would probably be easier than fiddling with the existing one. Or hell, a whole new car

Happy to stand corrected though, and if someone tells me it's easy I could possibly be convinced 8)

A forum member has previously done this, quite a while back though, if you search the forum the post should turn up. If I remember correctly he purchased an inlet manifold from an E46 and had it remapped to si spec but he wasn't overly impressed with the performance gain and thought it wasn't worth the hassle.
You'll need an inlet manifold with the extra disa, software to control it and a remap....could be a real pita!
