Is it a vehicle for good or evil?

A pal of mine has recently knocked down and killed a dog which was unleashed and ran onto the main road thro the village.

Now it seems there is an angry mob culture forming and it all seems to be co- ordinated via Facebook !

Urgh I hate reading this kind of thing, bunch of brainless coward keyboard warriors doing a witch hunt on a guy that probably did nothing wrong and could'nt avoid a sprinting dog. These moronic thicko's don't care about facts, just an excuse to drum up mob mentality and take their petty idiot anger out on someone. I bet none of them would face your mate in person, bastards. I guess this facebook is ok for some things but like everything it's abused. I don't use it and have no desire to.

I hope your mate does'nt read it and can ignore it.

Evil.

Deleted it a year ago and never looked back. I can text my close friends and family if need be, plus I must save hours each month compared to everyone else who mindlessly stares at their screen every sore second they get.

Unfortunately they did get rough and it put the guy into hospital ! They don't seem to comprehend that their dog they allegedly cared for so much should have been under control ie on a leash!
It seems to me like an ideal vehicle for vigilante groups. There seems to be no mechanism for shutting down the wrong element - like you I'm also a non Facebook user and probably unlikely to ever be so. The potential it has for evil scares me.

Most of my family live in Australia so I find Facebook great for keeping in touch due to the time difference. Just use it for my own purpose for close family and friends, I'm not really bothered what others use it for. I never quite get why people have hundreds of so called friends on FB who they have never met or ever likely too.

Also find it useful for local volunteer groups and whats happening in my local area and for when I want to get rid of household stuff etc, so its not all bad.

Tim.

No real probs with Facebook, you just need to know when and how to use it. Privacy settings are quite important. Just use it (or not) as you feel comfortable...

Did they get prosecuted for putting the chap in hospital.

I'm on Facebook, but I only have 28 friends, and they are real friends, ie family, wife and people I personally know/grew up with. I find it strange that some people seem to have hundreds, if not thousands of so called friends , but must just add people left right and centre.

I post pics of what myself and the kids/family have been up to, so obviously want to control who sees that, why would you share personal stuff with people who could literally be anyone?

I would say it's an ongoing situation at this time - and I sincerely hope they do !
The people are now very unsettled in their own home as you can imagine.

Facebook seems to be the rallying flag of these rat bags who seem to prefer mob rule rather than the common law of a civilised society.. There ought to be some mechanism to shut out these elements.

Can not abide FB.

If I want to keep in touch with anyone, I email or txt them.

Right everyone, I am off to make breakfast now. (Yes, that's a poke at FB)

Tbh like any tech it can be used positively or abused big time

My kids are scattered Glasgow Aberdeen and Stockholm but social media helps us all stay in touch in between visits so for me that aspect is priceless

What boils my piss is the amount of disinformation and utter lies that the keyboard misfits spend all of their time inventing - then the gullible absorb comment as real and pass on as fact

Off soap box :fuelfire:

Not on face ache and have no desire to get involved. Ronk, your mate must get the Police involved if they are not all ready. These cowards need taking down :|

Pictures or it didn't happen!

I deleted my account about 3 years ago, when I realised its just a "Look at me " tool.

I have just re-opened an account but purely for following Zedward. - I have not accepted any new friend requests other than Zedward , as if I accept one, I'll end up with loads.
