Looking through car breakers this morning and look what I found:

https://quarrymotors.co.uk/product/bmw-z4-e86-coupe-3-0si-m-sport-2008-n52-engine-manual/

So they do fit, the backs look quite tight.

Does anyone who reads this live near Sheffield so they can go test the seat fit for us :D

40 mins from me Usel....

Will the roof on a roadster go over the seat tops though as that's a coupe in the pic.... :?

Only go if you are equally curious but hopefully in the not too distant future you maybe able to answer

Do you have a G29? If so maybe measure the seat back to see how tall it is then I can compare to the seats in my Zed

Im tempted to have a run out to this midweek if I get a spare moment (just up the A1) Just to see if it has some 'that bit is better than mine parts' ..
Not interested in the seats but appreciate the shout out for the find

If you go see if you get a chance to slide the seat back further:

Also offer them a cheeky £100 and say your friend might be interested in them. There's a chance they may not know what they have.

Thanks and hope you find bits you need

Quarry motors will know exactly what they have Usel, they've been trading for years. I'm 100% going this week so will check on the seat back you picture incase PP doesn't get there.

Here are the ones in my M135i.
I measured from the seat base to the tops of them. Should give you an idea of height.

Awesome, you're a star!

Measured my e89's and they are over 34" not quite 34 ¹/²"

That'll be great John 👍

I have had absolute bargains from Synetiq in the past.

Absolutely....many thanks for that Chanlon.

happy to help - if someone can just find me a cheap "3.0si" badge for the front wing that would be great....I'm missing one and too tight to buy brand new. Can't even source a fake anywhere!

I'll certainly ask for you Chanlon.

After successfully fitting E89 M-Sports in my Z4 I am now looking at other options which may fit to help others.

If anyone has an F40 1 series please could you measure the bolt hole spacings.

This thread from another forum states that a guy fitted F20? 1 series seats and the rails were a match:

https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=534143

These seats are from an F40 M135i and look very similar to a G29 Z4 seat:

I think these could potentially be a good fit as unlike almost all the 1,2,3,4 and 5 series seats the backs are not flat and wide. They sort of curve:

Here's some more pictures of other angles of the seat:

You can also get them in blue and black Alcantara:

The lap part of the seat belt fixes onto the rail like the E85, electrics would need sorting obviously.

Prices seem to start around £650 second hand but I am sure there could be movement on those. I would happily buy a set but unfortunately I don't need them as I'm happy with the E89 seats.

If anyone in East Anglia wants to have a go at fitting some then if you get the seats to me then I can help sorting the electrics.

Hey Usel,

Time to get going on this project again if you’re still interested, I’ll be measuring the seat height today hopefully and if it looks doable there are a set of seats in red leather in Doncaster I’m interested in from a 2019 car. I really like the blue suede (Nooooo…not shoes… :D ) but my 35is has a red interior so ideally I’ll stick with that.

This is a terrible photo but hopefully you'll understand. Make sure the lap belt part fixes onto the seat:

Otherwise the bracket you make will need an anchor point welding onto for the seat belt.

I believe those seats we looked at ages ago in the e86 at Quarry motors were fitted with planted seat brackets:

https://www.torqen.uk/brands/plante...t-bmw-z4m-coupe-2002-2008-passenger-left.html

Very expensive new but I believe these were used as Quarry recently listed and sold a second hand pair.

My car is an E89 remember though, but your points are noted. I’ll let you know how I get on, then I may need to pop down to you so we can get the electrics buttoned up if that’s ok.
