Ok it's not silly season just yet but just my musing, chances are that Bottas will be going to Ferrari if they don't re-sign Raikkonen, I've no doubt that Alonso has a performance clause in his 3 yr contract allowing him to leave McLaren early and with little hope of them doing anything this year and maybe next, does anyone else think Fernando will try for a seat at Williams next year where he will at least stand a chance of some decent results in the twilight of his career?

Can they afford him, his salary demands would cripple most teams. Maybe he should buy in to a team?

Depends on how much he wants a relatively competitive drive as to wether he'd drop his fee I guess, but it's a good point you make.
Hmmm i'm not sure that was his plan Squiddie, I think he thought the first year at McLaren would be a mid table development year but with them having the job sorted by year end and a competitive car ready for 2016, it's looking like they'll be lucky to have a mid table car by year end 2016 instead, hence I can see him jumping ship ASAP and I can only see Williams as a decent seat available.
Worst move he ever did make going to McLaren. But hindsight is a wonderful thing. I think he will find it harder to get a seat elsewhere as the young kids are now showing how it should be done.

Yes Kvyat and Verstappen are going to be hot property but I still reckon Alonso's got a couple of years left at top level Dumfries.
If McLaren spend more than four more races developing this car for this year without getting a top 6 finish they will never catch up.
It needs a firm hand to write this season off, and then get prepped for next year.
Is Ron in a strong enough position with the other major shareholder to say " Sod this year, every effort is now in next year"?
Only he and the other shareholder can answer that.
Think 2008 - Toyota's last year in F1, then Brawn GP, with Reubens and Jenson - but without pulling the plug to fund the world's biggest recall......

Surely they'll be using this season as a test now, but with limited development to the engines being allowed and all the other teams doing what they can as well, I don't see how they can catch up even with the voucher scheme for new engine suppliers, don't ask it's bloody complicated, hence I can see Alonso leaving.
