This thing is gorgeous! Perfect Z4M replacement 1610kg I dont think is too bad! 110kg more than the Z4M but with 210hp more... Cant wait to have a go in one!

I'm looking forward to watching the vid as the cars look great.

Which one is he in? the V8 or the V6 S?

We had a V6 S Roadster for benchmarking in work a few months back and when following my boss back to the drop off with it, it wasn't pulling away from me like I thought it would. I was also a bit unimpressed by the interior, but then I work in interiors, so know what costs and what doesn't.

There is a reasonable lease deal on the Coupe's out at the min with Central Leasing if anyone is that way inclined. £400PCM business use for 5000 MPA.

Its the V8 I think as the V8 has the quad exhaust set up whereas the V6 has a twin exhaust in the centre...both are awesome though from what I have read :driving:

It is the fully fat Supercharged V8 550hp 500lbs
:driving:  Very nice.

Hang on...I have just realised in another thread that I am meant to be going with the times regards economy/efficiency...what a total waste that car is... lousy economy... you cant use the power on the road because of congestion...just think of the effect the emissions are having on the environment...Jag should be ashamed of themselves they should focus on three cylinder 1.0 litre engines its a disgrace! :P

Nice car but I don't get the excitement over the design (as I said in the other thread). It's all a bit 'safe'. Can't argue with the package though.

It's a dream car. The F-type coupe is the one I've been waiting to see since the CX-16 prototype was unveiled, and Jaguar have not lost any of it's beautiful form now it's been transformed in to the F-type.

With people like Harris and Meaden waxing lyrical about the handling of the F-type R it seems Jag has hit the bullseye.85 grand for a 550 bhp European sports car makes Maserati and Porsche look very stingy and an Aston V12 Vantage absurd price wise and a GT-R only slightly good value.

I can't afford any of these cars and I'm sure people who can would not be swayed by a mere 40k price difference if they really wanted the Vantage but I can't see
any car that's more desirable than the F-type R coupe at the moment by a long shot.

Auto only
I agree and I have said similar on pistonheads , everyone I speak to seriously rates the ZF 8 Speed gearbox but I have the ZF 6 Speed in my 330i and its nice and smooth if you are just pottering around but if you ask it to perform it falls flat on its backside its slow to react and gets very flustered at high revs so it just goes to prove my theory that Autos/twin clutches are great for cruising around but for pushing on they just don't work.

Nothing will change my view from three pedals and a stick because the bottom line is with a Auto/twin clutch you are never in control of it as the electronics are always in charge and that spoils the fun straight away for me.

Adore the F Type apart from the gearbox though its looks great, sounds great and goes like the clappers! :driving:

Thats a winner for jaguar...

What a beautiful car...

There is no way that a manual would be usable in a car like that,it just wouldnt suit its characteristics. The gearbox that would need to be used to harness the engine and torque would be agricultural, have driveline shunt of a ERF tow truck and the clutch would have to be as big as a dustbin lid..

The new Zf 8 speed is supposed to be glorious... The 6 speed isnt brilliant, but it does depend on application...

I have had the ZF 6 spped in BMW's and its ponderous and confused...

The same gearbox in my XK is smooth, precise and works beautifully....It even auto blips on downchange, which sounds pretty glorious with the stainless system i have just had fitted..

I have no doubt as soon as i can afford an F type i will buy one..

Current Jaaag...

I'm biased but love it.

Can't wait as I have the V8 R coupe for a weekend insured and fuelled, as soon as the dealer gets it in and I'm available to collect it. Sadly looks like July as I'm working away too much....

Point on the jag 6 vs 8 box - they are worlds apart. I have the 6 on the Jag and it's great the 8 is night and day better, just a few too many cogs to manual shift all the time.

I agree guys the 8 speed is out of this world from whoever I speak to about it and all the magazines rate it too, its just a shame the two ZF 6 speeds I have owned have been very poor my X5 4.8iS & my 330i, it just shows how time and development makes such a difference to a gearbox hence why the 8 speed is so good, I think I need to experience a decent Auto/twin clutch and the 8 speed could be it.

The Twin Clutch in our TTS is pretty good and the DCT I tried in the V8 M3 was ok too but three pedals seems to be where my heart lies.

Love the XK Z4M-2006

Very nice quad exhaust set up too, I have always liked the XK and my mrs went to the factory once to see them being built and she has had a soft spot for them since. :driving:

Its interesting to hear what a better job Jag do with the ZF 6 speed when compared to BMW it seems I have just experienced the wrong application then. :headbang:

Yep..

Its a interesting comparison between the BMW and Jag..

The difference must be in the software.. I have also never driven a BMW with the 6 speed with paddleshift..

In the jag it certainly feels a lot better and more precise. One of the things that i really disliked about my E60 was the gearbox, and i bought the Jag without realising that they shared the same gearbox..If your ever over Derbyshire way feel free to have a blast and see what you think..

Oh.......BTW,the exhaust is collosal,i will try and get a sound clip but its a mixture of Aston/C63 AMG ..

Thanks very much for the offer

From what you say your new exhaust truly hits the spot...I bet you are well happy :D :driving:

A lot has to do with the software, type of engine and way the combo are set up. On the XF the 6 speed with the 3.0 twin turbo diesel is really good, whereas on the 2.2 4 cylinder, 8 speed is a dog of a combo. The engine and box are tuned for performance on full throttle and economy the rest of the time. The result is droning, holding high gears and changing down 2 cogs at the slightest throttle. The same 8 speed box on the same 3 twin turbo is sublime.

Of the F type roadsters I've driven in V8 and non 6 cylinder I can't fault them
