To fund a Z4M I'm selling my low mileage BMW 540i Sport
The car has huge spec and is in immaculate condition with some subtle but very effective modifications. I'll let the spec speak for itself. I honestly believe this is the best E39 540i in the country.

Previous owner took a lot of time and money restoring the car to near new condition. He replaced both lower front under trays (frequently damaged on all E39s), rear number plate lights, rear PDCs and a bumper trim, had the wheels refurbished (diamond cut @ £300!), new centre caps, roundels and kidney grilles, M5 replica folding electric mirrors and lastly a replacement Key.
Just last month I replaced both front callipers with new ones and disks and pads front and rear, so you don't need to worry about the brakes for a long time. Total cost of parts was about £480. Other jobs taken care of since I took ownership are:
- Fitted M5 Lower Grill
- 6 Cylinder bonnet grills fitted (black slats, chrome outer)
- Colour coded the double din stereo surround to match dashboard Aluminium trim
- Fitted cup holders
- Fitted Aluminium Dial Rings
- Replaced colour coded rear diffuser with standard black diffuser (will included original AC Schnitzer)
- Had exhaust tips re-welded on, was sitting squint.
- Replaced n/s front tyre, was perished and a few chunks on the sidewall, Dunlop Sport.
The very dated comms pack navigation unit has been replaced with a touch screen Pioneer AVIC F900BT DVD / CD / Radio / Navigation unit with Bluetooth and full speed iPod connection (playback and charging voa lead in the glovebox). At the same time replaced the armrest with phone slot with a plain, usable arm rest from a non nav car. This head unit cost £699. JL XR525 CSI component speakers (£400) fitted at the front, and a JL removable sub in the boot (£150ish), running from an Alpine PDX 4.1 amp (£270) in the boot. This was all fitted by Sextons in Reading, at a cost of £422.99 (ouch) - however this did involve fitting a CanBus adapter so the aftermarket equipment can still be controlled from steering wheel buttons. Suffice to say, it sounds fantastic! As this car has the ski hatch, the bass can be heard perfectly in the car. Rather than a nasty big bass Halfords special sound system, the result is a balanced, clearly defined sound stage with just the right amount of oomph. Plus, the subwoofer can be unplugged and removed from the boot when needed within seconds.
Another expensive but fantastic addition to the car is the paddle shift gear change. The steering wheel slip ring was swapped for one from an E46 M3 SMG, and with a special wiring loom, SSG paddles were fitted to the rear of the steering wheel - these are smaller and more ergonmic than the usual SMG paddles and make changing gear a lot more fun.
The interior leather has been regularly cleaned and fed with Gliptone Liquid Leather Cleaner and Conditioner, the paintwork has recemtly been clayed and polished. The leather interior is in exellent condition, with no rips, tears or marks and not showing any signs of wear. Unlike cars with sport seats the bolsters are not at all worn. The dash computer readout is perfect, with no dead pixels.
Externally there are a few stonechips, but all have been touched up. There is a less than 1cm ding on the sill just below the rear passenger door, and a couple of other very minor dings if you look hard enough, but these are not noticeable.
Price is £7950. I appreciate this is the top end of the E39 market. But I honestly believe this is E39 out there, the best spec, low mileage and highest condition. Please don't waste each others time with stupid offers, you won't get a response.
