I can't tell by the pic but are you using your machine polisher without the side handle ?

Is that a rotary polisher or a da?
Rob

I had all the same questions but it's difficult to tell just from the photos exactly what has happened and if those marks are actually damage to the paintwork/clear coat. If it is then there's really only one solution...and we all know what that is. :(

It's a rotary. The handle has gone missing which is probably why I lost my balance.

It does look like polish but it's taken the paint with it too. There's two of them just on the boot lid, the first pic is just the aftermath of the exploded polishing pad.

I don't think it's one that will polish up but I'll give it a try. On the far right of the last picture I think it's gone down through the paintwork.

omg mate sorry to see this!!! Nothing worse than trying to work on your Pride and joy and something goes wrong!!

a few years back i was working on my garage door and dropped my pliers straight on the rear Quarter panel of my z4m!! i was LIVID!!!!!

Gutted!

At least the spoiler made it intact... My dad has a paint qualification so I'll see what he can do. I have the paint already to do the rear bumper. Still, it was all going so well!

More conclusive pic.

I’m sorry matey! :o
I would agree with the suggestion of a smart repair...

Keep us informed and good luck!

Thats bad.
What happened to the pad?
Was it old and just disintegrated?
It looks like its been sat over the aerial base till it wore out.
