Has the bottom of the wheel been pushed under the car? If so, it's likely to be very!

:(

How hard was the knock, you may be lucky and it's just the track rod end or unlucky and bent the hub carrier, but I would guess it will need a chassis alignment check anyway.

Hate this weather and glad mines tucked away until the weather improves.

Tim.

Sorry to see that. On the bright side, it's what your insurance is for. Get it in for an inspection and if expensive, route it through insurance. Hopefully nothing bent

I was hard on the brakes so it was slowing! I wasn't doing much more than 20 round the bend. It was going straight on but I managed to get the back out and it was just the rear wheel that hit - I was thinking that would be less damage!

Ow... well, new wheel possibly... £450 (though I have a spare rear 296, near mint I could sell you if you're in need/want it cheaper). Likely bent a lower wishbone/control arm, £130 and labour at whatever your dealer (or local shop) rates are.

Probably part 5 here would be my guess;

A friend wrote off a brand new Elise by hitting a kerb sideways. The photographs looked much like this except it was both front and rear wheels... I'm sure yours isn't that bad - the Elise is renowned for being fragile - hope it isn't too painful.

Hopefully not too much damage as low speed impact, a wheel at a strange angle always looks like the whole car bent and looks worse than it really is.

Hopefully nothing too serious.

Agreed, the angle doesn't look severe enough to cause issues with other suspension components or drive shaft. I'd suspect the lower wishbone as I outlined above. Get that replaced if it is that, and a rear alignment done and you should be fine.

Like I say, I have a nearly new 296 if you do want to replace it (I would, an impact that heavy could have bent the wheel as well as the suspension arms). I bought it as a spare in case I ever damaged one of mine. In any event, I hope you get it sorted soon, I know exactly how you feel (as will many here).

Bad luck :( hope you get it sorted as painless as possible.
On another note that's close parking, don't you get door dinks?

I wasn't allowed to pick my own car space this morning! Had to be directed in. They weren't having any of me telling them the space was too narrow!

What can you do?

Ouch... thats unlucky. By the angle of the wheel depending on excess i'd claim off the insurance... The costs could soon spiral out, esp with the rear wheels.

If its repaired at a dealer its the labour costs that will be a killer so if its a simple easy part replacement it may not cost too much. Having said that 2 new front discs, calipers and pads cost me a nice £941 on Monday for the Z3 :o I wasn't expecting a single caliper to cost £210 so it can all add up if a number of parts are needed.....hopefully not :)
