Extended Warranty

Hi all,

Just thought I'd share my recent conversation with BMW regarding extended warranty as I was pleasantly surprised!

My warranty expires on the 24/3 being my cars 3rd birthday :D

Quotes are for fully comp...

£609 per year with £0 excess
£427 per year with £100 excess
£329 per year with £250 excess

I think I'll most likely go for the £427 option  it'll be worth it if anything goes wrong with the auto box!!

I went with the £100 option too, if you car is anywhere near 60k then pay monthly and you won't see a price hike after it ticks over that magic marker :)

I pay the £329 as insurance on anything big and costly. I did the saving option previously and it was eaten and more so insurance all the way now.

Hmm that's a bit odd, I'm paying £45 per month on my 2012 28i with 26k on the clock wit £100 excess which is £540 per year and mines a manual too

My understanding is that bmw offer different levels of cover, that could explain the discrepancy? :?

Is the warranty available if you haven't owned the car from new? I bought mine as an AUC in January, will I be able to extend it when it runs out next year? :|

I was told you can buy into the extended warranty at any time after the original one expires :)

it's provided by mondial not really BMW but BMW fully support and acknowledge it, I had a £2500+ ABS bill on my E85 and after a few keystrokes I walked out shelling out just £100 excess was so simple even got a 530d to pootle(read thrash) around in for a few days at no charge. Highly recommended, esp in an e89 where everything is a little bit more complicated and therefore more expensive :)

Good info  My AUC run's out in April so will be putting a call into BMW soon. Having done some early research I think you can have the policy with or without breakdown recovery so this might explain the discrepancy in prices quoted?

well i just input mine with full comp and Emergency cover which is what I currently have and it comes back as:-

MONTHLY PAY AS YOU GO?
Comprehensive Warranty with Emergency Service
Excess: £100
£59.28 each month

ANNUAL PAYMENT
Comprehensive Warranty with Emergency Service
Excess: £100
£632.87 per year

so what level are you applying for ?

Just a thought, this figure MAY be as I putting my old Reg number in so it may see the car as having been out of warranty for 2 years so it may have bumped up the price perhaps

I don't think that makes any difference, as long as you have full service history (preferably bmw) then you're in
I think premiums increase if you have high mileage but that's it.

Hi all,

Should have said the quotes I got were for the top fully comp warranty but without breakdown as I already have that.

Anyone know where you stand with mods and an extended warranty? My assumption would be that it would be completely void, so no point in paying?

Mods are: CF rear lip spoiler, CF rear diffuser and quad exit stainless exhaust.

I think they would only be an issue if linked to the claim, if your engine blew up they wouldn't refuse the claim because you had a spoiler etc etc
Rob

That's what I was hoping. Although if my engine blew up or the DCT had issues then I would worry they would say the exhaust has added more power (when in reality I would have thought any power gain is negligible) and that it's put extra stress on the powertrain. :?

I would imagine that if they can wriggle out of a claim they will and blame your exhaust for contributing to any engine problem.
I wonder if you could tell the warranty people about any mods before taking out the warranty therefor if anything went wrong they cant get out of it.
