extended warranty

hi guys my car is an o6 and my warranty expires at the end of this month (june) and as of yet i have not been offered an extended warranty from bmw. My questions are this, does the warranty offer come from bmw gb or from the dealer you bought the car from? I bought the car from down south so this would be no good. Also could you tell me which in you guys opinion is the best value cover option to take as i believe there is three levels of cover available. Could you also tell me if you think i should have had an offer of an extended warranty by now?

cheers

BMW UK will send you letter, not the dealer. BMW Insured Warranty is the best, but may be slightly more expensive than other providers, e.g. Warranty Direct. You can take your car to any BMW authorised workshops for repairs. I had full cover with no excess payable for my E60, but without breakdown assistance. My Z4 is still under New Car/AUC warranty.

Agree with ksher about

I was in this same situation as you. Warranty Direct quoted me £350 in the end, for full comp warranty with zero excess. BMW direct (via mondial assistance) quoted me £442 for the same deal - but the difference being that i would have to pay for any repairs via WD and claim them back. With the BMW warranty, its zero hassle.

Defo opt for the top comp cover and zero excess!

Thanks for the info guys. Believe it or not the morning i posted i received my offer £41 a month with no excess and no breakdown cover. Seems ok to me.

If you skip a year, can you get warranty for the following year? or does it have to run straight after the original 3 years or AUC BMW warranty ?

You must take out new policy before the current warranty expires.

You can leave a years gap and then take out the warranty with BMW but i think you will have had to have it serviced at BMW (if due in that one year gap) and the warranty price will be more than if you hadnt had a gap.

I can only assume they are talking rubbish or have changed their minds again!
