Just wondering if I buy the warranty if it'll cover the alloys corroding again?

No, I have checked that on my X5 that is in extended warranty and the rears are starting to rust.

Only covered for the 3 years.

If it was me i would still be asking the question. BMW know (Might not admit) there is a problem with them. If you dont ask you dont get.

This is what I am doing currently, had mine replaced on 29 March 2009 and now rears are corroding along the ridge on the inners showing where the weights should go. It's a manufacturing defect in my eyes and the dealer has taken photos to send to BMW. I have extended warranty which I know doesnt cover this but I believe under the circumstances BMW should replace or refurbish at least. If the dealer doesnt come up with the goods I will be going dirct to BMW Head Office.

Will let you know how I get on.

I now wax my alloys everytime i clean my car - which gets some strange looks from my neighbours!

Although from the feedback in here - i doubt this will save the corrosion from eventually returning on my recently replaced wheels.

waxing everytime you wash may help, but mine are corroding in different places than the original set which was at the split seam. No doubt if I had waxed the wheels more often it may have helped but they werent done that long ago and I havent driven the car as much in the last 12 months, these wheels have done less than 7k in 12 months where as the previous set did 19k in 24 months.

Believe me I will be takng this up with BMW and I wont give up easily.

I don't see the point of making 108's (or any split rims in fact) in two pieces in the first place?? why didn't they just make it in one piece? is it easier/cheaper??

No it's more expensive but the wheels are lighter and generally of better quality
