Extended test drive

I've managed to secure myself an extended test drive this weekend on a 23i sDrive M Sport. Pick it up Friday evening and take it back Sunday evening. Looking forward to a nice day trip on Saturday and comparing it to my current 3.0SE. I hope for my bank accounts sake that I hate it :lol:

Looks really nice in the pics anyway..

Great colour combo.. & love the iS changes.

Be interesting to see how quick it is compared to your 3.0SE.

Don't do it!

I did the same while my Z4 3.0si was in for an oil service! Took the car I have now out for a test drive and look what happened!! :P

Yeah it will. Doubt there will be much in it 204 bhp vs 231 bhp, plus mines an auto so a tad slower, older engine etc.... Im more bothered about comparing the ride and drive of the two. I know the ride is supposed to be alot better than mine with the runflats but heard mixed reports about the handling. I guess all will be revealed :driving:

Cant afford to swap yet so this is proabably a bad thing to be doing as I dont want to grow to dislike my current zed. But on the other hand its nice to have aspirations and something to work towards and I guess this will tell me if the new one is what I want to work towards.... It does get better looking every time I look at it though!!

Thanks Gannet, ill certainly do my best :D

I did something similar earlier in the year though only for a couple of hours. Have to say it rode alot better and I liked it alot. Like you though I can't afford to change at the moment.

I Don't feel like Im driving an old car yet either :D on a recent ADUK day my passenger commented that it still feels like new :D

Well if you managed to withold temptation of trading in then that makes me feel a little reassured that I wont be signing on the dotted line on Sunday evening :)

Thats a good complement. Just goes to show if they are looked after then they stand up to age very well. Mines on an 04 plate and just clocked up 28k, still feels as tight as a drum other than the rattling cup holders but I reckon they will have rattled rolling off the production line :roll:

Had a test drive of the 3.5 before I bought my coupe. The sound with the top down was just sublime. Lovely engine note, blip when you changed down (auto with flappy paddles) and what seemed like some pop from the turbo. I could have honestly listened to that all day.

Well I managed to give it back without signing on the dotted line..

Im a bit pressed for time at the mo but when I get a spare twenty mins or so ill give a better comparison between the two. All I can say for now is that getting back in mine after a weekend of driving the E89, the following jumped out at me..

* Feels like your sat much higher in mine
* Mine has a better tone to the engine and quicker pick up.
* Mine feels much smaller
*Mine has got a really skinny steering wheel
* Mine feels old :(

Just dont think its worth the £34k they're asking. Well sorry Ill put it another way. I dont think I can warrant stretching myself to £34k for it.. Not when you can get an M for nearly £20k less. Maybe in a few years when they are nearer the £20k mark I may just consider it, but would have to be the 3litre at least. Just felt that you really had to work the engine.. Maybe because it had only done just under 4k miles and it needed running in?
