Extended leather with wind deflector

Hi.
Basically, does anyone have the oem wind defectors fitted with the extended leather package?

I have a z4 im breaking with the wind deflectors and I’d like to install them on my Z4m but the z4m has the leather trimmed roll hoops etc so I’m not sure if it’s possible.

I have always wondered why they didn't put a wind deflector on hoops that are covered in leather.

I suspect it's because the leather is roughly 2mm thick each side and thus you lose 4mm overall.

What you can try is to pack the wind deflector brackets out by 2mm each side using washers on the breaker and see if the deflector still slides in.

That would kind of help, but as the leather will compress, in reality you probably only need 2mm total. Might even get away with it simply by the amount that the side brackets pull down tight into the leather.
However, is there likely to be a clearance issue for the two sections that fit inside the hoops?

Elongate the holes in the plastic wind deflector brackets so they can sit higher up on the rollhoops using the oem mounting points. Mounting them higher would counter the 2mm leather offset on each side.
 
Mine has extended leather with leather on roll hoops and the wind deflector mounted from factory, so no concern about fitting
