Exploding Car

Wrong place wrong time today.

Cruising South on M42 and approaching the Thame turn off. Saw a car on the hard shoulder well ablaze, guy out of it and on his phone 25 metres behind the car.

Nothing else around me on the motorway, so I moved to middle lane and was contemplating if a call to the emergency services was needed.

As I got to 10m away the entire front of the car exploded and and I veered to the outside lane to escape and shot through a cloud of crap and debris. Clouds of white smoke.

Never seen it before happen to a car and no idea what went off but scared the cr*p out of me. Checked the car at the next services and no damage.

Other poor guys car was finished :( and yes I did dil it in and they already had a report.
 
Jesus Phil, Could have been alot worse if you were a couple of seconds later. Glad no damage was done to your car. Hope the guy wasnt injured at all.
 
I've seen that once before, quite shocking to see.

Mine was a range rover sport ablaze outside some posh houses in a layby. I reckon it had been nicked and dumped. Pulled on opposite side of road about 50 yards or so away to call fire brigade as noone was there. Even from that distance you could feel the heat the window down. About a minute later the whole thing exploded upwards blowing parts of the roof in to the air, guessing the tank blew.

Shook me up. :?
 
Yes - very disturbing and unless you see and feel it rather hard to believe that outside of movies cars can blow up...
