Took car to ridgeway Bournemouth today as i was loosing a bit of water, they phone me and say its the expansion tank and it will cost £430.00 to replace :(
i said to leave it thank you went to collect car and presented with a bill of £154 for looking at it, again i declined as i was not informed at time of booking it in that there would be a charge, cut a long story short i have the car back and did not pay (result) is there anyone know of a local mechanic who can carry this repair out and what sort of price i should expect to pay
thank you in anticipation :D

I got my changed by a local mechanic for sub £200, he also changed all the O rings on the rad and did an oil change (I provided the oil)

wow thats expensive and i think they tried to rob you with that quote  , got to say though did mine myself, took less than an hour, using You Tube

Btw good chance though that the thermostat is broke which sits inside the expansion tank, probs why it cracked

WOW that is expensive i bought one from Stephen James for £100 ish and replaced it myself in about 2 hours .Its a slight ball ache to get the old one out but easily a diy job

I was charged about £150 by my independent, it would have been cheaper but his assistant had ordered an original bmw tank not a patent part. Would have saved me at least £40.00.
