expansion tank help?

hi guys i need to buy a new expansion tank iv got two links below of two iv found..
the eurocarparts link is the exact one..i just wondered if the others on ebay will be ok to use, it says z4 in the description but a load of other bm's too.. iv heard the e46 model radiators are the same so would the expansion tank be too? advice please

there only around 80£ from the dealer i wouldnt mess about with cheaper alternatives !! at the end of the day if that blows or leaks and the engine overheads its going to cost dearly .
 
The bmw tanks break too (otherwise he wouldn't have this problem, these tanks are a known weak spot).

If you can get a proper fitting meyle for less.... go for it.
It might be worse, but it also might be better. (it wouldn't be the first time that a non oem supplier improves a known weak OEM product)

The z4 has a sensor +warning light for low coolant level, so overheating only happens to people asleep behind the wheel :roll:

Ok so i bought a new expansion tank.. plumbed it all in but it appears that coolant is leaking from where the sensor fits in.
please correct me if im wrong but the sensor shouldn't actually make contact with the coolant itself should it?
does this sound like i have been sold a faulty one? it was brand new..

Hi Reggie. i had the same problem with my Z4 just after I bought it. The tank had a tiny crack in it. After trawling through all the advice on here I also ordered a new sensor, cap for the expansion, and mine is an auto so also ordered the thermostatic valve that sends coolant to the auto box. It was suggested that this often fails. As it turned out they were right. I had to remove it in pieces once I had removed the expansion tank. From memory I don't think the sensor actually touches the coolant. i think it is in a pocket. So if you have coolant still coming out in that area, maybe the o ring on the expansion vessel got damaged. Or did the carrier for the expansion vessel get damaged when you took the old one out. I know mine was a bitch to remove. Good luck with it. Hope you get it sorted.

Yea I'm think it's internally and the leak is in the pocket that the sensor fits in, iv got a new tank
And sensor coming tomorrow hopefully I just got a dodgy one last time.. Fingers crossed
The new one will do the job!
