Exhausts....again

HI guys, seems to be a hot topic at the moment and I am one of the many interested in changing the exhaust on the Z. The options are vast and I don't want to completely break the bank on quad exhaust so just looking for a simple change, preferrably cat back.

I have searched lots of posts and can't find anyone that has a Hayward and Scott system on a non-M car. This so far interests me the most, costing around £600 plus VAT (I think negotiatble) it will be custom made to the car. Once that has been done it will be available to mail order! They also said the price would be better if they had multiple orders. The only downside is leaving the car with them for 3 days, and at the moment the cost compared to the Remus. (Remus is a no go for me a I just don't like the the tail pipes which is a huge shame as the system looks to be great quality).

Another option is a custom exhaust from Powerflow, my local outlet is RSR. I've not used them for anything before but they seem to have a good reputation. The price is so far the best but I am concerned about the final finish?

I guess what I am trying to say is, does anyone have an H&S exhaust on a non-M Z4, would anyone be interested in a group buy? Also does anyone thats interested live near Basildon for H&S to look at the system for more accurate pricing?

Excellent, that could be very useful.

Well I have just spent half an hour at RSR (my local Powerflow) and come to the conclusion that they will not do the exhaust. The guys were great, very honest and advised not to use them for a z4. They use universal silencers and he didn't think any would be suitable. They did however have a look at a few Remus pictures and are confident they could change the tail pipes for me to the more standard look. Depending on the trims I want, it would be around £80 give or take. Not a bad option if the H&S route fails!

Hi,

Try Elite Direct in Rainham as well.

They stock a range of exhausts, including Remus (£450 Inc VAT and Fitting), just down the road from you I guess :)

I've been toying with getting a quad conversion from Hayward Scott at a little near £700 plus VAT. I've been seriously tempted since January and just havnt taken the plunge!

It would be interesting to know if HS would be interested in a group buy? One of the issues of course is leaving the car with them, I'm sure it would be safe but I'm based in South West London and it's a long way to go! I had a look at the Remus exhausts and was told that the tailpipes would have to stay like that (I'm not a fan)... I think if I'm going to go for a HS system it would be customised to my needs and also have the tailpipes that I like. Still, £700 odd quid is alot

Anyone got a HS exhaust on a non M car then? It would be great to hear from you :)

I think once they have set up one z4 they wouldnt need the car for as long. Maybe a day rather than 3?

Just need to find enough people to get a group buy going? Elite are on my list to call tomorrow so we will see what they say.

ok im interested in this because i want a new exhaust system, cat back would be just fine, in regards to the RSR Powerflow ones im sure ive seen the twin pipes like on my 3.0 before? if they are quoting £80 for cat back that seems like a bargain?!

RSR (Powerflow) can do it but have advise against it as it would be very loud and not the best option. Their universal silencers won't work.

£80 is to change the tailpipes on the Remus system to a standard looking chrome finish and not the Turbo design. So it would be £450 for the Remus and then about £80 to have nice tailpipes fitted.

If we can get the H&S custom cat back system for around £500 then thats what I will be doing..... :D

450 for the Remus is good the local parts supplier in aberdeen ....quoted 617 plus fitting yesterday..............

damn mines a 2004 3.0, any chance i could modigy to fit??

unfortunately not as the pipes are a different shape, look at remus uk website and you will see.

I was under the impression that the 3.0i exhaust is incompatible with the 3.0si. Is this the case? I have been looking for an alternative exhaust for a while, but no one seems to admit to making one for the 3.0si.

Can anyone confirm please?

The Remus is quite loud, but good value. If Powerflow will change the tips for you will look really nice to.
PF are all about the individual doing the work, you should stand there whilst they stick the tips on so you can specify EXACTLY where you want them to the millimeter. Do not just show them which tips you want and trundle of to the shops as once they are welded thats that really.
