Exhaust VS Induction Kit

Hi all,

I have a Z4m with a Gruppem induction kit and stock exhaust which I'm thinking of upgrading. For those who have both, can you hear your induction kit over your aftermarket exhaust?

Note: I've had straight pipes on a previous z4m which sounded AMAZING but looking for something a tad more subtle now.

I had the Gruppe-M and the Rogue Diablo back boxes - and could only hear the Gruppe-M on the first 500rpm of acceleration...then the Diablos drowned the intake sound out

Did consider going for a full carbon, CSL-like intake, but decided the £2k+ was probably better spent towards a G-Power/Infinitas/ASA supercharger kit

I have the Eventuri induction kit ( not the airbox ) and Eisennman Race mufflers. from 1500-4500RPM its a mix of exhaust and intake noise. From 5000-7000 its all intake noise, 7000- Redline its all engine noise. This applies at Full throttle, now under normal driving and around town , its mostly exhaust noise as the intake only gets loud at full throttle.

I had just the mufflers for 3 years and I got the intake last summer, honestly I wish i got it long time ago as these 2 mods really complement each other perfectly.

FYI ,the eisennman race mufflers will sound be much louder on euro-spec car , I live in Canada and our cars come with a restrictive Headers which do limit the exhaust noise. I think on a euro-spec car, Eisenmann Sport mufflers would be equally loud as my Race.

My car came fitted with Powerflow back-boxes which I really like, but it means I'm having the opposite quandary! Would I still hear the exhaust if I fitted an Eventuri of Gruppe M? I've managed to resist temptation so far. :lol:

I have an eventuri intake and Eisenmann race back boxes. A good combo Eisenmann race are not that loud tbh

I sold my Gruppe as it totally drowned out the Remus back boxes which I didnt like, prefer exhaust over Induction personally.

My setup is Supersprint V1 stepped headers, matching cat'd S-pipe, Powerloop mufflers and an Eventuri. Windows down you get the best of both worlds and sounds great. It's a bit harder to hear the intake with the windows up but you can in most conditions. The V1 stepped headers make a bit of a fizzing sound in the mid-range, right where the Eventuri starts making some noise, so I think without headers the intake would vs exhaust would be better balanced. My recommendation would be a quiet set of mufflers (SS, Eisenmann sport, Remus if you can find them) paired with the Eventuri.

Thanks for the responses, looks like either keep it stock or get a quietish exhaust, I've always liked the way supersprints and eisenmann exhausts sound so this may be the way forward.

I have a Remus exhaust and an AFE intake. I find that they are perfectly balanced. I had a Stromung exhaust before the Remus and it definitely drowned out the intake.

I have this combination too and it’s a fantastic pairing.
I do have a GruppeM too, but it’s in a box back in the UK. Next time I’m in Europe I’ll bring it back to Aus and see how it compares with the aFe intake.
