Exhaust Upgrade!

Was on the Eisenmann site the other day and found something to make the 35i a little more, well more...

Nice burble at tickover and comes to life when you give it some... but not too brash :D

That's the Race spec

Sport spec is about 3db quieter and recommended if you do a lot of miles.

Sounds nice, although the stock system sounds nice also. Driving into a car park slow yesterday with the roof down the exhaust had a nice burble to it. Seems to have got better the more miles I've done.

"bit the bullet" and installed the Eisenmann 4x76 on my 30 "Z" yesterday. Right side silencer used stock BMW 35 hangers and insulation, exquisite sound but does resonate bit in the interior, but not so much the missus found it objectionable, haven't notice a mileage drop yet except for the fact that until I get used to the new sound I am driving it like I just stole it, and the snow it not helping. It is a bit bassier than the Eisenmann video http://www.eisenmann-sportauspuff.de/DE/VIDEOS/BMW/Z4/BMW_Z4_sDrive_23_30.php and has the most beautiful muted F1 burble on downshift, not in the video

Excellent work, sir  I know not everyone sees it, but a nice exhaust not really does add to the driving pleasure IMO.

From what others have said about their systems, I wonder if the bassiness will work itself out over time?

Would be very interested to hear a clip. Out of interest, did you go for Sport or Race spec?

Have become mildly obsessed with Eisenmann... when you have a moment have a look at the M3 clip... awesome!

Did you check out the one they do for the new V8 M3!! 8)

While not very clear on the Eisenmann Web site, the 2x76 is the Sport model, while the 4x76 is the Race Spec, so as I wanted the quad outlets I went with that one, and only found today that it is the Race spec, but has the German T.U.V. approval for street use [kind of needed, what with German plates and all]. As soon as the weather perks up a bit [snowed again last night], I'll grab a sound byte. Will have a chance in a few weeks to test it "long term wise" on the commute back to Chirk.

- First Update -
Have put 400km on the new exhaust and while it sounds the same outside, the initial resonance inside has toned down to almost stock levels, I am very pleased with this change, apparently due to the pipes getting "seasoned". Can't see any drop in mileage, but suspect the engine will need another tank of petrol to fully adjust.
Still have a bit of an issue with the length of the pipes behind the bumper, not excessively long, but just long enough to make you go "Hmmmmmm", but word has it [from my son - who is into drifting and had a similar setup on his S-14] that due to the way heat is handled by the stainless steel system, the pipes need to be a bit longer so they don't cook the rear bumper opening. He also mentioned that I don't have any tools sharp/good enough to cut stainless steel cleanly - any input would be appreciated in this area

Still a great system, would purchase again, sound turns heads but does get the neighbors dog upset

In case anyone is curious, this is the single 3 meter [9ft] piece of what came off the car, a bit more work to remove it uncut, but didn't want to throw it away yet, weights about 60 lbs [30kg] and is a bit heavier than what went back on.

Late Clarification, both the Twin and Quad pipe systems can be had in either Race or Street levels of noise, the system shown on the Eisenmann Web Page for the 30i is the Street Version
