Exhaust tips

They look fantastic! Could I ask who did them and what was the cost? (I'm over in Hamilton) make mine look really shabby

It was a place next to the Glasgow Chromers in Barfillan Drive, Craigtonso not a huge distance from yourself. Its called Lindsay & sons.
They cost £40 for the pair.

'Tips look great Stuart. Did your guy say how best to keep them that shiny?

Had my back boxes and tips done a while back but think I have to get my guy to do again now. Removal is easier I think than in place.

I never asked. Hopefully a bit of metal polish now and again will be enough. If not I can take them into work and buff them now that the hard part has been done.

I took mine of they are a push fit with a spring clip, just need a bit of persuasion . I then sent them of for chrome plating no probs even though they polish out imperfections prior to plating. Arrived back nice and shiny and fitted back on .

Not sure what the steel is but the company I used R&S Electroplating in Manchester did not raise any issues and turned them round pretty quick. Had them done in July 2016 and they still look good.

I like them :)

They look so smart. Are they just the standard oem tips? I was thinking about getting some better tips but if I can get the ones I've got looking like this then I might give it a try.

Standard tips, just taken off and polished.
They are tight to come off and may need a bit of a tap with a rubber mallet.

Did you manage to get them off without lifting the car in the air? I am based in Glasgow and would love to get this done.

Yes. They are on very tight as the spring clips that hold them on seem to rust/bond onto the exhaust but a few taps in the right places with a rubber mallet and a bit of effort and they will wiggle off. They just push back on and then can be turned to line up properly.

Finally got round to doing this myself using Lindsay and Sons. They werent great when I got the car over 3 years ago and despite many attempts I never got them looking any better. These are the before photos, terrible as you can see

I wasn't expecting much, tbh, not perfect by any stetch but I am delighted with how they have came out, but put a couple of coats of Autosol before putting them on the car.

Not all good news, I have noticed the water leak in the boot, so work to do there :headbang:

Great effort, well worth the hard work they've come up a treat  Oh how I wish the one's on the 35is weren't welded on. Mine look dreadful, really let the car down :(

Thanks, they make such a difference now they are done, I just wish I had done it years ago. I just assumed you couldn't get them off, welded on like he 35is. Shame you can't do the same with yours
