Exhaust tips

Hi,

Purchased new exhaust tips from BMW dealer (part 18307551507) that are described as chrome exhaust tips but they don't appear very chrome to me. Ordered again just in case wrong type sent but both were the same.

The tip on the left is the new one. The one on the right is the one taken off from the exhaust - you can't see it here but it has corroded hence why I was looking to buy new ones.

Anyone any idea where to get OEM chrome exhaust tips that match the standard 07 3.0si exhaust tips?

Other brands are available - try the around 68mm VW golf styles in polished Stainless steel from that well known fleabay

Yup, those look like the original tips on my 20i.
More a brushed chrome than a shiny finish. When you look at the chrome effect highlights they added on the LCI indicators and across the top of the headlights, it seems strange they muted it at the back end?
 
Yes, I was really happy with the results . They looked great on the car. I'll try and take a photo tomorrow.

Thanks - they look nice and shiny! My tips are part corroded so not sure whether this would work or last long if re-plated. I'll mull it over. Cheers
 
Perhaps it might help to e-mail the company with some photo's like I did. At least you will be given an idea of viability.

Sorry you don't like them. I guess it's best to return them? Or will you sell them on?

Sorry you don't like them. I guess it's best to return them? Or will you sell them on?

Has taken a while to get my arse in gear and quite a while to get them back but very happy with them now I have them back.
Took them to a local chrome plater in the end.

In fairness, they are brushed chrome and they are the standard upgraded tips for the car. BMW never did polished chrome tips for the Z4 si as far as I’m aware.

Your original ones look like they’ve been polished through years of cleaning.

That said, your newly chromed tips look awesome!
 
Got a pair on E-Bay for £13. Chrome looks good but we will see how well they survive a Scottish winter. If anyone wants my old tips to re-chrome them happy to ship for cost of postage. Assume they are OE.
