Exhaust tips removal and pipe work diameter

Hi, I have a 2010 E89 23isdrive and have a couple of questions.

How easy are the exhaust tips to remove?

What’s the OD of the exhaust pipe work the tip is attached too?

Thanks

Tips are easy to remove. Just need a mallet or something with a bit of weight to whack the tips from behind. I covered mine in a towel to avoid scratches etc. Got them off in about 30 seconds.

Not 100% sure about the diameter. I was thinking of getting some different tips, but couldn't get a good measurement as I didn't have a calipers. I think I worked out the diameter was between 61mm-65mm.

I'll measure mine tomorrow night for you, they're away getting powder coated chrome black.

Thanks I’ve just pulled mine off and they came off ok. My measurement with a vernier seems to be somewhere between 60.5 - 61.5. I want to put some akrapovic tips on and there available in 60 or 63mm so unsure what to buy

It would have to be the 63mm if you want them to go on? :?

Did you figure out what size tips to buy? I’m in the same position right now.

I removed the exhaust tips today ,they came off quite easy using the oil filter tool pictured below

Were there any screws to undo or clamps to loosen?

Want to try this on mine for thorough cleaning or renewal but don't want to damage them, is it just a rubber mallet and wood to bash them off?

No screws, no clamps. Just brute force required. Rubber mallet is all you'll need. Couple of taps from behind and you should be able to wriggle it out the rest of the way.
