Exhaust Tips - Is This The Best I Can Do?

My tips were in a similar condition so as an experiment i had them powder coated they looked great for a while but they are starting to look a bit discoloured after year on the car even with regular cleaning i think there've been affected by the heat.

I'm a bit reluctant to spend £80-£90 for new ones so would be interested if you find someone to replate them.

I have the same problem with mine - autosol does a fantastic job, but only where the chrome is intact. It still cleans the flaked bits, but the get dirty again very quickly and the normal wipe-with-a-rag approach to keep them spiffy between washes doesn't cut it. Would love to get them re-chromed...

I tried a smear of vaseline as the Autosol made my nipples sore - it worked a treat ...Oh, TIPS, doh!

Looks to be a generic item that will IMO look shite once fitted.

My old 2.5si had Satin Finished Tips which were horrible to keeps clean but were about £20 each from the local BMW stealer.

Stainless steel on the ///M much easier to keep clean and I tend to wipe the insides before I used the car. (But I'm not using daily so not a chore)

Just cleans off any deposits from previous drive, seems to do the trick at the moment, but like you I'm not piling on the miles.

Not sure if I'll go ahead but I probably will as once I notice things like this I can't get them out of my head

Decided to finally sort my exhaust out today. I don't have chrome tips...is that correct?

Used autosol to clean them up but think I need some chrome tips!
