Exhaust tip detail (OCD)

Before anything is said...the insides are coated black and therefore cannot be cleaned to shiny-shiny...same as the RS tips!
Now you're happy to say that...! I remember the amount of ribbing I took from you and Kevin because I hadn't polished the insides of mine...

Tee Hee :P

I clean mine once a month maybe, they go black with all the short runs I do in just a few days. Mine don't come off tho... well, not without a saw.

Neither do those on the RS, I always end up with sore hips and bruised elbows from lying on my side - wonder how much a 2 post lift would cost... :oldman:

How come your OCD didn't compel you to do the insides too :poke:

I clean these every wash by taking them off... And I do the insides of the pipes too

Funny to se this today as that's exactly what I did last night after blitzing the back end of the car and stripping the interior after a leak. Could't believe they simply pull off :o

Just did mine, a pain to get off!

Looks like they are chrome plated as there seems to be some peel at the tip. Anyway cleaned them as best as possible!

Well, for those that thought mine were dirty at the Midland meet the other week, I've done something about them...

That's serious OCD! I autosol polish mine every time I wash it but I don't take them off :)

Well, I thought it was bad-enough keeping my RS tips like Perry's  then I went and bought something with 4 of the bleeding things to look after...and they're enclosed in a diffuser! My OCD is driving me to all sorts of methods to keep them clean, but an old toothbrush and Autosol seems my best avenue...

New name required. From 2alpsade to 4zorstsade

Have to admit that after only 3 weeks of z ownership the 4 tail pipes on the M is the only bit of the exterior I have cleaned! Autosol
Just not been dry enough to long enough to clean the rest :(

:D

Just wish I could pull mine off (oo-er) as others can! I'm actually currently 6zorstade until I lose the RS...that's a lot of chrome to polish

Surely that's 7zorstade if you include The Donkey?

I'm assuming that it's a typical Donkey with only a single waste outlet...

It is! It is also a waste outlet I leave to do its own thing as it's a boggo mild steel one with a naturally black tip

Just a quick question about exhaust cleaning my Z4 is an 05 2 litre, will the Autosol Metal Polish be okay to use?
My exhaust is just one big thing rather than two seperate tips, if that makes any difference at all. Forgive my ignorance :?
