The noise is good, would just be nice if there was a way to reduce the drone so it sounded closer to stock when the revs weren't as high. Maybe it's a case of you can't have your cake and eat it. Presumably a bit of drone is inevitable and they'll always be a tradeoff. It's not really noisy so I wouldn't want to go to big expense, but would spend a couple of hundred to tweak it.

i agree, there are times when i wouid like mine quieter, but not many, and the dexterous art of a soft right boot is always a possibility for plod ect. :D
 
When fiddling about trying to get a tune/nice sound out of an exhaust pipe, it’s worth remembering that performance can be adversely affected by the mods.

60% Changed exhaust - 40% retained standard.

Must be worthwhile. Is there anybody in the Lincoln / Newark area that has a Back box modification? I'd really like to hear one first hand before I go ahead...
 
For me having a modded backbox is OK but if I were to go down the aftermarket route I'd be going for an eissenmann sport. Id hope it's tuned sound is superior to the backbox mod, but I'd want to hear one in the flesh first. Especially at that sort of money. What I'd really want is to hear the sport and race versions back to back.
In my experience the rest of the aftermarket ones are just way too undersized for the zeds needs so end up being too noisy, droney and boomy. However that said I've been told the 3.0si aren't anywhere near as droney/boomy as the M54 3.0i so a smaller aftermarket backbox might just work
 
Surprised an induction kit’s not mentioned in the mid list - find having a Gruppe on an M is intoxicating
 
more thoughts .unless its raining i have the roof down, and because i was doing the north wales run it was down of course and the dlv backbox sounded glorious - but, later in the day on the way home it got a bit cool and i put the roof up, the exhaust now droned as i kept a steady speed around 60-70 mph. so a bit closer to the situation, if you have a coupe or the roof up - the drone is more noticable at steady speeds and more muffled.
