Exhaust recommendations please

Does anyone have experience of replacing the exhaust on a 20i and can recommend a suitable replacement?

I've done a search and couldn't find a link to a reputable company supplying them and Google throws up a lot of links to the same company. I'm thinking of just replacing the back box for something with a little more "character", rather than a performance gain - the remap sorted that little issue :D

I'm very familiar with motorcycle brands but none of them seem to do car exhausts so I've no idea what to look for.

Yeah, I thought a full system would be a touch costly, so was hoping someone could recommend a cheaper back box alternative.

I don’t think you’ll find the backbox only, it’s not a separate part of the system and reaches all the way to the downpipe area.

Ah, that's interesting. The pics of various unbranded ones on ebay etc seem to show a shorter back box. I thought there might be a join halfway perhaps.

I think they expect you to saw the expensive bmw system in half to fit their “one size fits all” budget silencer
Rob

I believe this fits, a little cheaper than the Scorpion one but still a bit steep, but as I'm sure you have found the options for the 20i are very limited.

That’s for the non turbo 2.5 & 3.0 cars, are you sure that fits the 2.0 turbo range?
Rob

It's a tad confusing on the website, they list one for the non-turbo cars and the link I posted says "all E89" even though the text in the link I posted implies otherwise, may be worth giving them a call to confirm if anyone is interested as it looks quite a nice system.

Do you have a link to this Rob?

When I approached scorpion, they advised me that they did not do a system for the E89 20i and had no plans to do so either :?

Anyone had changed exhaust catback on a 23i ?
I called today a specialist (in france) to make and install a stainless catback exhaust with a valve electronic (for more fun :driving: ) but the price final : 1 260 GBP (1400 euros)

It's quite expensive, right ?

Hi Boltz

Does your supersprint have the resonator in the front exhaust? Asking as I've just ordered the full decat system without the resonator to save a few bob as we know system is rather expensive. Sound clip of yours?

Wing07, mine does not have the front resonator. I have tried to load a sound clip but no joy... I will give it another go. I think you will be pleased with the Supersprint system

I'm hoping so its cost enough.. just waiting on downpipe to be made.. hopefully a couple of weeks then will be sorted  :driving:

Based on my experience a de-cat front pipe is the way to go on an N20 for better noise and spool up time!

Is that what this guy had done? (Sorry bit of a newbie with exhaust terminology - which also seems to differ depending on where in the world you are)

No he has just replaced the mid section...so its part of the noise control system not the pollution control system..the de-cat is the pollution part!
