exhaust recommendation

Are these recommendations just for back-boxes, or for cat-back/manifold-back systems?

I'm happy with my Rogue Diablo back-boxes, but don't think I'd want them any louder due to having 'unrestricted' cats or by fitting an un-silenced x-pipe (before & after sound clips available...with stunning commentary :P ).

Whilst the Rogue Diablo back-boxes feel as heavy/well-made as the OEM ones, their website claims a reduction in weight from 10kg to 7kg a side, so I know there's been no skimping by using 'wafer-thin' cheaper grade stainless steel :P

Both RPI back boxes are much lighter than a single OEM back box and trust me the build quality really is amazing. Of course they're practically straight-through with tiny resonators so not for everyone...

they weight nothing.... soo light.... i reckon 3 rpi units would still be lighter than 1 stock unit.... quality is awesome as well.... very happy with mine, the DKF setup was the best imo!!! shame nothing happened their!!

They dont make a center section. Back boxes bolt right on the stock X-pipe, they cost about 960 US dollars pre-shipping. If you can source them used from EU you'll save on the VAT and import fees, i got mine new for a great price on eBay from a UK user that sold the car before he installed them on the car.

Has anyone tried a different (straight through or decat) centre section with the OEM exhaust?

Just like this video here on this M3?

op, was your tvr a 6 or a v8 , because a six will never have that v8 burble, i had been a v8 sound lover ever since i was a kid , but when i got into the m's, s50 and now s54 the differwnce i first noticed was the smoothness of the six, most v8's have hydraulic lifters so there is very little mechanical engine noise, so all you hear is that lovely v8 thumpy exhaust note, also most v8s are long stroke and dont rev that high, the thing i love with the s54 six is the visceral scream that you get when you accelerate through the rev range you can almost hear every component, yet it sounds as if theyre all in harmony , unlike a rattly diesel that sounds like all the bits are fighting against each other. this engine note coupled with the raspy exhaust note that to me is exactly the right volume as it doesnt drown the engine sound, you really feel that you are in a very fast car. nothing worse in my opinion that an exhaust that is even a bit too loud, the ones i have heard on the m's i dont think are an improvement. jmho
