exhaust recommendation

As much as I've loved my Z4MC over the last 6 months, I'm missing the roar of my TVR, can anyone recommend a good aftermarket exhaust to get me that growl back. (with a few overrun pops would be nice)

It all depends on how loud you want to go. Surprisingly, there are quite a few options for such a low production car. Here are a few samples, in the order of loudness:

Remus Sport
Supersprint Sport (powerloop)
Stromung
Supersprint Race
RE Diablo
RPi GT

Not sure where the following falls in loudness: KKS-Performance, Eisenmann Sport/Race, Arquay, and a few others that I forgot about.

The Supersprint Race was too loud for me. I took it off only having them installed for 1 week :( I have Remus on the car right now and they are only just a tad bit louder than stock (approx. 15% to 20% louder than stock). I've heard the Stromung and I think that will be the loudest I would go. I would have gone with the Stromung had I not gotten such a great deal on the Remus.

Shooter,

How much are we talking for the by pass set up.

Very intrested also how does this effect MOTs etc

IIRC, i paid something around 40£ inc postage for the set up, so 40£ it is.

That second drive by sounded epic! Did you leave that nice camera unmanned??
I agree, that sounds mint! I am like the OP I miss the sound of my TVR too :( the standard set up on the zed is so quiet when you have been used to the aggression of the TVR sound! :D

Can understand this ! Took a tvr owner out on sunday for a run out , he has a griff 4.3 with no silencers at all , asked him if he could here the straight six , he said yes amazingly !

I have Remus back boxes with an aFe intake and the car sounds fantastic. Neither is intrusive when driving gently or on the motorway, but all hell breaks loose when pressing on. It still passes sound checks on trackdays too. Oh, and there are lots of pops and bangs through the exhaust once the pipes are hot

You want pops and bangs on the overrun? One solution only. RPI GT!

That RPi will wake up and annoy every one of your neighbors everytime you startup the car :poke:

You bet your ass it does.

Do any of the available exhausts add any power or is it all noise?

Mostly noise. The RPI supposedly offers a minor 7hp gain (dyno proven apparently) but i've not felt much of a difference, if any at all.

Any gain in power would be very minimal as the OE exhausts are already very good in terms of flow. One down side is that it will cause you to waste more fuel as you will most likely rev'ed the car more for no apparent reasons

Mine definitely felt free-er mid rev range, wasn't expecting it but it definitely wasn't placeboor the extra noise.. but I don't have figures to back it up :)
