Exhaust question

Yeah admittedly it maybe a little too loud for some if the car is being used everyday. But then again, I wouldn't ever fancy commuting in the ///M.

You should try it! Keeps me sane after a long day and makes me smile

Stromung is about £640 including shipping and import duty from the states.

I have a quote from them direct in the US. The cost is $865 for the boxes and $130 shipping. So 995 bucks or £654 but that is WITHOUT import duty & VATwhich according to a website is an additional £180.

Are you sure the £640 is shipping, import and vat? Where from?

I ordered my stromungs direct from the states last year and it cost me around £830 all in. £650 may have been a little while ago now.

I think I have shortened my list to SS Race / SS Powerloop or Stromung (which seems really good value). Anyone got an Eisenmann?

SS Race was super loud, even for my car with US headers. For me SS Race was like 100% louder than stock. I only had it on for about 2 days before yanking them out. If you like loud, go SS Race or RPi

X-Metal, it may be that the effect of the US headers is to mute any subsequent exhaust system to such an extent that the differences between stock and the Remus boxes is negligible. Otherwise, perhaps the Remus boxes in the US are to a different specification to those in Europe.... The best test would be if you fitted Euro headers! :)

I would love a set of Euro headers! Unfortunately, I can't pass our smog test in the republic of California with it. Heck, I can't even pass smog with an aftermarket intake :x

That's ridiculous! We have similar problems here as the annual road tax is based on emissions. I pay £500 road tax to drive my Zed about 5K miles each year and half that to drive 3 or 4 times as far in my daily driver.

Fitted myself - takes about 90 mins, all you need is a few spanners and a pair of ramps

This was 18 months ago and part of a group buy on ZPOST.com, so discounted and I think the $ rate was more favorable back then.

My duty was lower than I calculated beforehand, was about £96 if I recall correctly.

Yeah easy enough to fit if you have the tools as above. Garage wont take more than an hour, you might want to have a couple of spare bolts and nuts as I snapped one, plus a Peugeot clamp.

I'd love to hear all the different exhaust options in person, video/audio never represents the sound well enough.

I have the Remus back boxes on mine, think I've had them 3-4 years now. At first I thought they didn't sound that much louder than stock when starting the car when warm, but on cold start they sound much better than stock and they definitely make more noise when opening it up: tunnels are great fun :D

I'd not want to go back to stock and am happy with the Remus, but I've not heard any other systems. :(

I know, right? Our emissions test is two folds - emissions and visual inspections. They will fail me based on visual inspections even if the euro headers and intake passed emissions because it's not original equipment to the car! We've recently changed the emissions test to just OBD readings only (eliminating emission sniff test) and visual inspections, but I will still fail visual inspections for aftermarket parts :x :x :x
