Exhaust poppage

Hello Guys,

Im new to the forum but have had my z4 3.0i for about a month now, I thought I was not going to mod my z4 as it already came with a stubby and the sound generator mod already done, however I got rid of the CDV this week as it really annoyed me and now looking into getting an exhaust system!

I used to have a fiesta which I dropped a racing puma lump into it and loved the sound of the exhaust noises the thing used to make, it used to pop and crackle on over run all the time!

Are there any exhaust systems that people have on there z4 that do this?

I am looking to buy one soon and am so far looking at the remus system, but it doesnt seem to be to loud and cant seem to find any decent videos of it popping or crackling on youtube. If anyone with exhaust systems could let me know that would be great!

The cheapest way is to do an exhaust bypass on your rear box. Do a search for this and have a read.

Me, I have the child scaring Rpi rear boxes which are great on a roadster with the roof down :thumbsup:
 
Welcome! :)

Backbox bypass definitely seems like the way to go.The OEM exhaust pops and burbles all the time when the car is up to temperarture; it's just very muted.

Are rpi exhausts available for the 3.0? I thought they were m only?
 
I thought it might be!

I think the best way will just have to be custom! Remus seems a bit too quiet and eisenmann is just too expensive I think!
 
ok i've just had a straight through system installed on my 3.0 and the two words that comes to mind are...LOUD DRONE!!! its insane, so insane in fact its going back next week for him to do some more work on it.

The Issue:

extremely loud drone at low RPM, the higher the RPM the more quiet it becomes. the garage wanted to install a vacuum valve in the tailpipe to make it more quiet at low RPM. i contacted him yesterday and voiced concern that if its already quiet at high RPM and a valve is being fitted to make it quiet at low RPM then what's the point! currently he is doing some research and looking into options to get the right sound but ill be honest unless you want to spend £1000+ with a expensive branded option then its difficult to get right.

Yes, that's why I did not recommend them for a 3.0. Sorry if I wan't clear.
 
It is certainly very deep sounding! I have just called infinity exhausts near bristol and they quoted me £400 which I think isn't too bad considering you can choose how loud you want it,tail pipe design etc!

What company are you using?
 
I used to have a racing puma and really miss the pops and crackles :(

The extra power makes up for it though :thumbsup: :driving:
