Exhaust options?

can anyone list the available exhaust options in the Uk for the Z4M? and even better with approximate prices? i've done a search and now i'm more confused!

my mates got a E39 M5 with a Hayward Scott exhaust and it sounds fantastic! obvious the z4 will never sound the same, basically i don't want too loud (daily commute and possible track days) what i really want is lots of pops and bangs on the over run

Well i know of Eisenmann, Supersprint, Remus, Hayward and Scott and RPi. That last one's from the states and is what i've got. It's really very loud and so wouldnt really suit you as you say.

I have Remus back boxes fitted which are quiet enough for daily use, Bedford and staying friendly with neighbours. However not too many pops and bAngs on the over run.

£650 fitted though which helps!

I love the sound of the standard exhaust .... but know what you mean re pops an bangs :)

It seems from my brief time on here that people generally find the aftermarket exhausts too loud for daily use.

I have had many aftermarket exhausts on everything from a renault 5 GT Turbo years back to a TVR Griffith 5.0. For me, on my Z4M R the exhausts are going to stay standard .... then again, maybe this view is just because I am getting old :)

i to have the remus backboxes fitted and i like them alot  mine were £680 fitted.

I have the H&S and it pops and bangs beautifully, so much so that ive started regularly feathering the throttle when it's trailing without even realising. Not sure what it cost as I was lucky enough to get it second hand, a year or so old.

If you're over this side of the Midlands come and have a listen. 8)

Andy, much was it if you don't mind me asking. I seem to remember 800£ or around that mark, sure it was in an old EVO mag or something.

I've a cat back system made for the car by Longlife Exhausts in Leeds. £600. That deletes the small resonator box, square profile pipework and heavy heavy back boxes for a straight through set of pipes with two single exit rear boxes. Pops and bangs on over-run and sounds great when the revs are up but isn't as loud as the H & S.

H&S sounds like it fits the bill to me, pops and bangs is what i need!

seconded on the vid!

IIRC you can buy the H & S system as a cat back or just the back boxes. Will make a difference to price and sound. I think Andy's may be just back boxes but I'm not sure.

yep just boxes, there was a noticeable difference in performance too, much free-er midrange.

not sure how id do a video ? guess i'd need another person, hmm.. or a tripod.

When you look at the OEM rear box off the car it's staggering what a heavy chunk of metal it is. It's no wonder that a straight through system of any sort releases a lot more noise. I'm sure the OEM system is a compromise of meeting noise requirements, eliminating drone and keeping cost down as well as getting good performance from the engine.
Logically you'd think a straight through system would release a lot more power but that never seems to be the case. I'm happy to sacrifice a few horses (if I have done so) for the extra sound of the exhaust on full chat :)

i've has some prices back from H&S, the x pipe and rear boxes are £750 excluding then vat and shipping, that was a little more than i was hoping to spend tbh. i'd still be interested in hearing one though, might make me change my mind ;)

I've got Athols (Outrun) Prospeed custom rear cans he had before he fitted his Remus ones. Simota CAI up front and it sounds :ninja:  thats "ninjaevil" and im claiming that word for my own :P
