Whats the best way of improving the engine note on a 6cyl?

I believe there is something you can do to improve the sound at low revs? You certainly could with the 330?

I don't think there are any flaps or trickery in the exhaust system to easily change anything TBH. Milltek is good but possibly a bit boomy, I think Plowy has one.
 
I've fitted a GruppeM intake on mine which sounds lovely. so much so the neighbours all stop what they are doing to stare and appreciate the noise as I drive past :)

Hehe, obviously the noise is a different level to the 4pot 2.0 i used to have... but you always want more! I expected the noise of the z4 to be similar to that of the 325Ci i once had. Far better in the zed!
 
My solution was a simple mufflectomy. Just removed the muffler completely. Economical and simple.
Makes a wonderful aggressive noise now,IMHO (especially at WOT!) and great burbling downshifts.
Most who have been around it like it, or at least they say they do, and I choose to believe them! :D
I suppose there are some who don't care for it, but I love it, and it's mine, so there...! :P

Have you thought about the foam in the sound generator ?......i removed mine and it sounds fantastic. And the best of all, it didnt actually cost anything !....

There is a how-to i think, i may be wrong but i think its only on the 3.0 ?......what engine is your car ?
 
IIRC you can add the sound generator to the 2.5 - you just need to buy the parts. Then once you've added it, you can take the foam out :)
 
All corrct, no soundgenerator on the 2.5 and Mike is spot on the Milltek on my car sounds fantastic, especially popping and farting on the over run... :D
 
plowy, Iv been looking at a Milltek system is yours cat back or full?
and where in the UK are you!...

its worth it. couldnt imagine my 3.0 without one....a must on the other models
