Exhaust mod possible on Z4M (remove perforated pipes)

Hi Folks

I was recently away with a friend driving an e92 M3 that had made the modification described in this vid, namely chopping out the perforated cross pipes inside the exhaust.

Exhaust sound is very subjective of course but to my ears the results (for my friends) were really superb for what is not a high cost modification

Now of course the e92m3 has the benefit of a rather nice V8 but has anyone any experience of doing anything similar with the Z4M, if indeed it is possible?

As mine is at the menders to iron out a ding I'm keen to plan ahead for the next small modification!

Cheers

Sounds a bit "swarm of bees" on tickover :? Lot of work & expense if you don' t like the result with the S54
Sure there was a forum fella recently who had the same mod on his M backboxes .

It's been done a few times. Exdos was the original modifier. Mine is slightly different to his but the end product is very similar. Here's a link to mine: there are two video clips at the bottom of my post. I have lots of positive comments on it.

The cabin noise is barely different. Here are a some more in-cabin clips (there is a blank screen but press play)

You can indeed - search for the "OEM Exhaust Mod". Exodus has done a lot of research in this area. I'll try find the two photos, before and after.

Here we go -

Thanks!

From a quick canter through definite improvements possible albeit the deeper rumble of the e92 m3 mod elusive....unsurprisingly I suppose.

Great - shall research further
