Exhaust experts get in here (Plus stance tease)

OP you came across as a bit of a knob in this thread, sorry. You may want to break the law but don't brag, mock or look down at people who comment when you make it so blatant, this isn't Facebook or Pistonheads. We've all driven too fast and been a bit silly, but keep it to yourself.

I don't see the point in the cat delete on an NA car - I think hi-flow ones work just as well in this instance, save the hassle.

Looking at the LaminX by the way, thanks for that

I think you'll want to look up the definition of bragging dear chum. I was vehemently targeted by multiple posters on something (the plate) which was not the point of discussion nor was it at any point referred to me in the opening post. I took it upon myself to reply because i'm not a chump that can't articulate his opinion or POV. People mentioned the law as if I was unaware of it - as if I had no idea that my front plate was missing  . I was and am fully aware of the law and that's all I pointed out. I diddn't mock or look down at anybody mate, otherwise that would be 99% of the people who drive as everyone has a front plate.

What's blatant about not having a numberplate? It is what it is - did you want me to prop up my plate on the front so people didn't get offended? lol people just love to moan.

Regarding the LaminX - I went to a garage on the North Circ who did a great job - paid £120 for all four lights which are very very subtle.

Here are some more pics so you can see it better - 50% tint he called it, the lightest they do, and no reduction in light output.

Back and front before I dropped it on coilies.

Thanks for all of the kind words ladies and gents. I can say I am truly touched that everybody is so concerned about my personal, financial and legal well being. Where would I be without your nannying? Oh yeah... right where I am now. I've had 18 months of ear bashing from a myriad of middle aged ponces on forums traumatized by my lack of front numberplate.

Targeted, annoying, vehemently, mock - calm down dear, no one really cares - when you grow up a bit you'll learn that a lot of people also break the law, they're just a little more subtle and humble about it when it's pointed out. Same input, different output.

Speak to Jason at BW chiptune that's the only person/tuner id trust with my bmw's these days. I've had all my petrol bmw's remaped he will be doing my 3.0i before bmw show santapod next month. I will test again on 1/4 mile their after remap I did a 14.2 last week. Which isn't to bad considering the Z4 only pushed out approx. 220bhp on dyno last month. It should be about 240bhp+ after the aggressive remap Jason has written but its more torque im after really not bhp.

yes I have videos of my exhaust its sounds brilliant not sure how to put videos on here other than using youtube so hers a link to my instagram

ps....where did you get the wheels I've been after some 10J rears but wasnt sure if they would fit are yours 19"?. what were your original rears 8.5J?

Those links don't work mate. I think I was on 8 and 9's before. The wheels I bought were the Avant Garde M359's. As far as I can see I am the first to have these on an E89 - spent two months discussing whether the offsets would fit on mine. Needed 5ml spacers on the front to clear the KW1 struts on the inside but all good otherwise. I can link you if you want. They cost £800 but I got them for £630 with M3cutters discount. Great wheel - hugely popular in America.

I concur with the middle aged quote, fine :P but the part in bold makes zero sense... there is no numberplate...there is no subtle way to do that is there? It's not like i'm doing 100 on a 30 and running my gums on a forum, it's bleedingly obvious from a picture. I'm not activly breaking the law because I think it's cool to do so, I don't have a plate because it looks sexy as hell.

So the "I can break the law subtly because I speed and don't tell anyone" is bunch of nonsense, no amount of maturity is going to erradicate the nonsensical nature of that argument.

But anyway, I posted some pics to help make your Laminx decisoin. It's very good providing you don;t go too dark.

I looked up online and they do offer a 0% tint now - I'd probably go down that road.

Your colour setup is almost the same as mine.

By the way, the bold bit did make me laugh - "It's OK officer, she might be 14, but she's sexy as hell"

:D lol hopefully I'll never have to usher those words. Is 0% just a clear film then? You just want to add protection?

The whole point of this thread is for the wisdom of the forum to help me get a deeper, bassier loud exhaust note, so please people, throw me a bone!

I'm going Eisenmann, there is no other route. Their pipes delete the secondary cats, leave the primary alone, or go hi-flow, there are DPs with hi-flow for around £650, but it's not worth it imho. Get a proper intake upgrade first.

Here's one for your car https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDy93DdS6Lo

have a look on my insta its @goldzbcfc

Great car by the way literally had my E85 since January this year and already wanted a E89 within the forst month having it seems a good progression. Mine came with 8.5/9.5 CSL alloys but I think 10J might fit maybe the arches are bigger on E89 as I was in bmw showroom this week and most the Z4 had 19" on them. Think i might need spacers for 10J though as I cant find the right offsets. I'm running 19" beyerns 8.5j all round on KW springs so not sure do go collies or just new shocks with springs I already got. Which Csl did you get? cant see any 9/10 sets

ps..you spent £120 on lamin-x tint they have seriously riped you off i paid £100 for my tinted windows on my last E46 and thy did flyeyed tint the headlamps for £10. Im sure that lamin-x is like £20 to buy on ebay. London prices for you maybe at £120

Think they would suit your car nicely!

With regards to LaminX - I may well have gotten a bit bumped - I had just picked up a semi brand new set of KW1's for £400 quid and got a bit excited. But I did call 7 garages in london and 5 of them quoted between £20-£40 per headlight depending on the car(obviously a premium for any luxury cars regardless of headlight size  ).

But yeah the LaminX product they all shipped in from America so they say, and it's quite expensive. Took the garage an hour and a bit to do too - looks great. I don't like the look of fly eye up close - a garage offered to stick it on the front for £20 and tint the rears for £30 using non LaminX.

Looks good though!

Okay. So it looks like brand new Eissman Quad Pipes for a non Turbo E89 are only £1000 brand new from Eissenmann themselves!

http://www.eisenmann.co.uk/Eisenman...Z4-2009/E89-Z4-2009-Non-M-Cars?product_id=628

For some reason I thought it would be closer to £2k. Now, it doesn't look like a decatted downpipe is included. My plan is to buy the downpipe posted on post #1, couple it with the Eissenman Race and buy another diffuser off ebay and put it all together. From the piping cut outs I think this should work....any thoughts?

yeah always forget to look under other models im always looking in Z4 E85 section i didn't think to look E9X models. Thanks will see what other 10J they got your stance looks good i think i could squeeze another 0.5 inch. You should get the camber maxed to about 2.5 degree will look even better

Sorry, completely off-topic here, but..

Best looking E89 I've seen to date. I would actually consider upgrading if they looked that good from the factory!
(Hate to join the bandwagon but it does look a little "off" without a front plate.. That something is missing vibe! Still, each to their own! :))

Thanks very much, appreciate the huge compliment there pal  . I'll let the numberplate jab slide :D

ATTENTION

I am about to pull the trigger and managed to get the Eissenmann quads delivered for £975 quid. I think I can get it even cheaper if anyone else is interested in buying a set for their zed?

Let me know as soon as you can, otherwise I'm going to pull the trigger on the bad boy.

also you were right - both cats are intact with the resonator deleted on the system.

Excited... :driving:

London_gains,do you expect any gain in horsepower or is the exhaust mod purely cosmetic?

Hey,

Purely cosmetic / sound motivations. I always wanted a quad pipe machine (to the extent where i considered a TTS), and was close to getting an E93 M3 but decided to mod my Z4 instead - E89 is the best shape ever designed in my heavily biased opinion. Now all i'm after is to replicate the roar of the beasty E9X M3 V8 engines, which hopefully the Eissenman wil go some way towards achieving... maybe with a cat back to boot

Tuning a N/A car is so difficult and expensive - if I eventually get board of the power I will have to upgrade to a turbocharged V8 of somekind.. F-Typre R anyone ? (We can all dream  )

I do think there are some small HP gains though.. from what I have read on Dyno readings on other forums. Not sure if I recall 10 BHP?

I don't think anyone on here has done a Quad conversion on an E89? I'm looking forward to the results :)
Lovely looking Zed btw - great stance

Celtic tuning claim 18bhp gain for a stage one remap for a 30i on their website
So with a fancy exhaust maybe a 28 bhp gain??

Not bad - pushes it close to 290 all in potentially. How much is a celtic tune? Any idea?
