Exhaust emissions warning light

Hi my 2.0 08'reg has just clocked 60,000 and within 50 miles of that the exhaust emissions warning light has appeared...
am assuming this is just a bmw default to screw more money out of me.....£90 and 4 hrs later...diagnostic says everything is fine...
any ideas?
the car was fully seviced before buying it was on 58,600, the lights went doolally at 59k then dissapeared after another 50 miles.
am hoping this time will be the same.
suggestions for a diagnostic to buy myself would save me a lot of dead end phone calls to the dealers.
cheers

seems to be a common issue on the 2.0i and hard to fix.

Have you given the car a good Italian tune up, if not well worth a try.

Am happy enough with it as is, if i want to go fast i'll get a bike...
but yes it has had a good thrashing if that's what you mean.

Just had similar problem on an 07 2.0 at 67000
Had codes read and it needed throttle valve potentiometer. Been ok for last 100 miles...
Where are you? - there'll prob be someone local who can read the codes. If you're in the north west, try ducklakeview here on the forum.

ok thank's samm.
