I have heard a rattle at low revs recently and thought perhaps an exhaust bracket had broken so was planning to take the car to an indy but thought it would be ok to drive in the meantime.
Was driving it on the motorway earlier and went to overtake a car so gave it a burst of acceleration and saw a large grey (I think) plume of smoke from the back of the car.
Later the exhaust emissions warning light came on and when I got off the motorway the car felt extremely slugglish like it wanted to stall. Pulled over, turned the ignition on and off and the warning light disappeared and the car drove ok again.
Will obviously be taking it to a garage soon but just wondered if anyone had any thoughts about what it could be.
Cracked manifold or would the rattle indicate a broken bracket? Something else? Does grey smoke indicate something more worrying (e.g head gasket)??
