Exhaust Emission Warning Light

The MC has been sat happily in garage for the past week and hasn't been used. First turn of the key today it was Kangarooing very badly, then a few miles down the road the emissions light comes on. Anyone had this? It's now done 8.5k miles, if it stays on I'll take it in, maybe it's just upset about being left alone for a week :(

I had the same thing on mine (07 M Coupe). If I recall the car got a blatting to Wales and back on a Sunday afternoon, some 200 mile round trip. Come Monday morning start up from cold and the light was on. Drove the 100 miles to work - no better. The engine was very 'flat' and didn't pull very well. BMW Leeds couldn't diagnose it so I returned home after a week at work and BMW Sytner Solihull had it for the following week before deciding it was a sensor in the VANOS which had failed. Replaced under warranty and not a problem since !!

I'd take it in if I were you. That said - Is it driving differently ? e.g s**t or does it pull ok ?

It's still a bit kangarooey, and coughs a bit. Once floored though it pulls as it should so not sure it'll be the same problem. I'm going in with it first thing in the morning though. Always nice to have some info to throw at them, less chance of them trying to fob you off with lies..........

... Tell me about it, Its my only gripe with this car - Having to take it to my local stealers EVERY time somethings up with it. I've got a warranty issue open with them regarding the paint coming off one of my alloys - The servicing guy claimed its 'my' paint thats coming off :headbang: I took him round the stealers demo car and that shut him up.... I mean painting my own wheels ? Cmon....All praise the fatherland for building such a great car - Pity I have to deal with a dealership who dont seem to know one bodily part from another.

Rant over !

P.S - Hope its sorted out OK for you!

T'was the oxygen sensor, need to wait till Monday for a new one to arrive. They gave me a mini traveller to play in for the day, why did they make that?

Same thing happened to mine, faulty lambda sensor.

Guy I spoke to at a BM3W meet said for some reason the Z4M seems prone to lots of carbon build up on the sensors and they eventually fail.

Maybe this will fix my Kangarooing too. Just before it failed it was Kangorooing really badly.

Fixed today with a new lambda sensor, happy days again. As an aside it feels less kangarooey, maybe that was the problem all along.

:) :) :)
