Exhaust Emission Values Warning Light

I've had the above come on this evening on the way home. According to the handbook it means "exhaust emission values have deteriorated. Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible".

Anybody else had this ? Any idea of causes ?

Dirty lambda sensors, more common than an M3 - I had 2 go within 20k but none since (50k now).
 
Well three weeks after going out the emissions warning light came on again and after confirmation by Sytner Nottingham I too have joined the 'Z4M knackered O2 sensor' club !
