Exclamation Mark

The car has been laid up since Oct in the garage with a trickle charger on the under bonnet pins - I went in today to load a CD onto the cars system but when I put the key into the slot I got a "boing" and a big yellow exclamation warning light - I'm puzzled.

Against my better judgement i started the car - so it not a low battery warning.

I think if its a small exclamation mark inside a triangle then its a service item warning, or something that required attention like an empty washer bottle. If its a large yellow exclamation mark it could be traction control or tyre pressure monitor, I was getting this with the chime when the TPMS was playing up and giving false alarms.

A BIG exclamation mark!

There were no messages and when the car was put away for the winter, all was normal. The battery did get very low before I put the trickle charger on ( Alam system was on ) At that time wnen I put the ign on it was like Blackpool with all sorts of messages - low battery and a car on the ramps symbol.

The charger I have is a maintenance charger - It charges an discharges, so it may be Ive caught it at the low end of its cycle.

I will not worry about it too much until March!

Just been into the garage to check and the screen says all is ok!

It may have been that the maintenance charger was at the low part of its cycle.

I should say that when I put the fob in this time there was no warning message or chime.

There is still one year of warranty remaining - so no real worries!

I reckon its down to a low battery when it was left all negleted with alarm set and slowly draining the battery for weeks and weeks!

I think the car will come out hibernation mid March - It seems like a long time off but its only ten weeks! (and counting)

It was put away with a full tank on a dry day after a good fully warmed up run, so I dont see any major problems. If there are "assist" will have to deal with them!

Was it music any right minded motor would object to, a 'Blue Oyster Cult' CD maybe?

ronk, as you've said it sounds like it was probably battery related, hopefully when you get it moving again in the Spring it will be OK
