Exactly what to expect from having a detail ?

 Here & there
So, you've decided on a detail but which one do you go for ? I have done a search on here under detailing types, detailing etiquette, categories of detailing etc. but cannot find what I am after.

Are there any guidelines on the general format of a detail, is there a code of conduct for detailers to adhere to ?

Is there a professional body that detailers register to as you entrust them with several thousand pounds worth of your hard earned that has been transferred into the pleasure giving set of wheels that give you an ear to ear grin when you get behind the wheel ?

For example is a partial paintwork detail a quick wash, clay, T cut or whatever, some fancy sounding sweet smelling polish and then a wax; a full paintwork detail same as a partial but you get an extra wash and an expensive sounding exterior sealant and your tyres are blacked along with your mudflaps ?

Is an interior detail clean the glass, vacuum the carpets brush the seats and hang a magic tree air freshener off the mirror ?

Maybe some of you who have had detailing done would be kind enough to shed some light and give a general idea as to what to expect for varying degrees of detailing to us that are to busy to have time (and patience) to get our pride and joys back to 'just out of the showroom' condition. Mind you showroom condition can sometimes need a detail !!!!

Where abouts in UK are you? I found my locals by looking on Swisswax and at their recommended suppliers. Then some stuff on detailing world and finally following on Facebook the ones who I'm keen to spend money with.

And from following one on Facebook, I know that almost every detail is different. There is a consulation where you discuss what you want, the detailer assesses what needs to be rectified and will then recommend a program of products and services.

Have a look on the KDS site - Kelly Harris is one of the most respected detaillers in the country and his site has detailled breakdowns of standard packages

Inkey$ got a quote from Kelly for his old MC. Wasn't cheap, but the guy's work is awesome. If I ever have mine resprayed and detailed he's where I'm going.

He also runs paint correction classes - I keep thinking about booking one of them but they fill up fast!

You can spend as little or as much as you want...

It also depends on how good/bad the paint is one your car at the start stage of the detail..

Products also play a big part in cost....Zymol Royale is £8800... :?

The best detailer i know and have used is Matt at offyourmarks.. IMHO he is one of the best in the country, and a proper nice bloke to go with it.
