Ex crimms at your door

I have have had a few of these scumbags at my door, tell them to do one. I went round my neighbours when one of them went round the rear of his house. Found the tosser looking in a window, took a photo of him and called the Police. I followed him up the road, he was soon picked up by a van, so I got the reg number and gave all the details to the cops. They said that these are scammers who are looking for things to nick.

Severial years ago the JWs called. I was in the mood for an argument, so kept them on the doorstep for a good 20 minutes. By which time they'd admitted I could be a complete arse all my life as long as I said sorry at the pearly gates! They've blacklisted me now.

We used to get lots of JW's when I lived in the suburbs - I would greet them with a pen and paper and politely explain I was busy right now but if they kindly wrote down their name and address I pop round to their house for a natter when I had some free time :)

My 2 cents. The issue isn't so much with the door to door chuggers, irritating though they are.
Ok. I spent a large amount of my professional career(+15years) working for well known, and or, legit charities. During that time, I seriously believed that I was doing 'the right thing' & maybe, making a difference.
I am both sorry and ashamed to admit that charities, especially THOSE well known & heart rending ones (no names) are largely using your monies to keep their middle management & execs in well paid jobs with only a tiny % trickle reaching 'those in need'.
If you must give monies to a charity, I implore you, then give them to a small local charity that is, at least trying to make a difference in your local area. The rest are really just making money for themselves.

We used to get them when I was a student in Sheffield.

I usually sent them away but on one occasion I invited them in, called my housemate down and went out.
He never did get me back for that.

I had a conversation with someone before about this and their answer was "without the management and the money they take the charity wouldn't exist at all so we need these people"
Not really right though is it?
Im sure they could get people to fill these roles at a fraction of what their salary is.

Being in Liverpool, if I didn't answer the door to ex-crims, I don't think I'd get any visitors

Yes had that convo many times too. It's the flimsiest of justifications IMHO.
Well known charities are making HUGE CUTS to services & have been implementing pay freezes for their 'at the coal face' workers (Sound familiar?) , whilst still giving out good salary increases to the exec types.
