It looks like I may have a dodgy EWS module.
I found this interesting document

It claims (as do others) that EWS modules MUST be ordered from BMW with the correct VIN and initial rolling code.
The modules are available very cheaply on eBay
Before I bend over at Dick Lovette BMW IS THIS TRUE ? Can second hand EWS modules be coded. Can I clone my original if the data is still available ?
