Evoque critique please

Investigating replacing Z4 shortly. I have found a mint 2013 63 RANGE ROVER EVOQUE SD4 2.2(190PS) DYNAMIC AUTO with 15K miles, warranty until next Nov. Probably get it for £35.5K which seems quite good to me - but what do I know!

I will probably test in next few days. Any tips, things to look for?

My main concerns will be hard ride on roads, excess noise from engine, road etc. Started to find Z4 and run flat 19"'s too hard and noisy a ride. Nice to have the turn of foot of a 28i but now looking for more comfort and reasonable performance. Not going to do much off road but will hopefully be going to some challenging areas in France, Spain, Wales, Ireland and Scotland with whatever I get.

I have considered a new Qashquai which is as pricey as above and more once you add on all trimmings. Also seems, although never driven one, to be too underpowered for a 'recovering' Z4 driver. Same applies to many others I've considered at least on paper. Looked at new Q3 with all trimmings. Lovely but silly price even with bartering.

Done Porsche cars and never really impressed for their premium prices. For the kit I would want on-board they are prohibitively expensive

Finally the above Evoque claims parking assist. I assume this means no more than a rear camera and some beeping? If it is a proper "park it for you" jobby are these any good? I heard that many versions of this are hit and miss as far as working smoothly. Any comments on this gratefully received.

I'm afraid I'm not altogether confident in this sort of tech. The parking assist on my Z4 is allegedly state of the art and certainly lights up and makes noise but has its limitations. Every time I reverse from my driveway since the road is so narrow there with a substantial metal fence waiting to crimp I have to lock round and move forward towards my gate post. The Z4 doesn't seem to know the post is there until I know I'm about 6" off. Presumably this is because of the angle at which I am approaching. Whatever it doesn't inspire confidence and I don't really rely on the system.

Thanks in anticipation of your sage advice for a probable "deserter".

Hi

Our one was great .. don't worry you will enjoy the car

ours was a 2014 plate dynamic and apart from the new 3rd generation mini is one of the lowest depreciating cars .. I only sold mine to get a E89 35is .. but nearly got rid of the Z4 to get another Evoque and a z4m as a hobby car, but stand to loose to much money on my Z4 that has only 150 miles on the clock and only a few months old

buy it ....
